Tomato Products

I just made a double batch of chili and looked at the tomato can ingredients. I assume diced organic tomatoes, the tomato sauce, and tomato paste are all gluten-free. I'm not talking about flavored anything, but just plain diced, sauce, and paste. Am I correct? The ingredients are fairly straight forward, but there's always the one or two ingredients that I don't even know what they are.

Thanks!

Karen

From what I've used so far in my cooking this past year, i haven't seen any canned veggies that have gluten in them, especially tomato stuff. I have only seen tomatoes and peppers or spices in even stewed tomatoes or seasoned sauce. There is an unsafe ingredients list on this site that can help you recognize whether any oddball ingredients are not okay. Hope this helps. I've only been doing this gluten free thing for allllmost a whole year now, and I've been there with the labeling issues. I'm starting to compile a folder of printouts from major brands of what their gluten-free products are, and will eventually put a list of brand names and companies who state on their websites that they disclose all gluten ingredients. This will help me have peace of mind at the store so I don't have to second-guess so much.

you may want to be careful if there are natural flavorings listed on the can, or several ingredients. i don't buy seasoned canned veggies at all. the only ingredients i have noticed on them tend to be water and whatever the veggie is. sometimes there might be salt, but usually it is only water and the item itself. they are required to list the major allergens, which include wheat. natural flavorings may include barley or malt, which they don't have to list.

BTW, we've done other articles on this topic that I wanted to share here (not to condone smoking!):

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.

Exactly which blood tests were done? There are a few different ones and some docs don't do them all. Also, your results and reference ranges for each?
