Hi!

I was diagnosed with celiacs aprox 5 years ago and have not been very very good at maintaing the diet. I have been noticing over the last year that my memory seems to becoming worse( I am oly 35) the last few days my eye sight has been blurry, which I notice at least once a month among all the other usual syptoms. This disease has been slowly ruing my life.

I have been trying to do research and every time I think I have a good idea of where to start, something new pops up.

I have purchased alot of the Amys foods that are gluten free, but I have noticied she makes foods that are also NOT gluten-free and I am wondering about the cross contamintaion. Also, I never even thought about change cookware, as I have a roommate and I am a single mom and in no position to buy new right now.

Is there any type of guide, website, book, etc out there to help?? Any advice anyone can give would be greatly appreciated!!!

I think that "Eating Gluten Free for Dummies" by Dana Korn is one of the best. I am in a money crunch too so I asked my library to borrow it for me. Free and I took notes on the important stuff.

Hmm.. I personally don't trust Amy's. I ate a few of her "gluten free" things and didn't feel they were entirely gluten free, myself. I've had reactions to a lot of stuff from that company. Im also intolerant to chickpeas though, so it could be that too, I dunno.

What I do is just cook everything from scratch. It's fun, and YOU get to be in control of what goes in your body. :) I love cooking and think my food is way better than anything I could buy pre-made or even in restaurants, so it's great!

      Hey there, have you been tested for allergies? You may not only have celiac disease but be allergic. I have celiac disease and am allergic to Barley, wheat and rye.

      I have osteopenia and have cracked three vertebrae.  Niacin is connected to osteoporosis!       Thank you so much for the clarification! Yes to these questions: Have you consulted dietician?  Have you been checked for nutritional deficiencies?  Osteoporosis? Thyroid? Anemia?  Do you take any supplements, or vitamins? I’m within healthy range for nutritional tests, thyroid and am not anemic. I do have osteopenia. I don’t take any medications, and the dietician was actually a nutritionist (not sure if that is the same thing) recommended by my physician at the time to better understand gluten free eating.    I almost wish the gluten exposure had triggered something, so at least I’d know what’s going on. So confusing!    Many thanks!
