I'm having a very hard time finding a good Pediatric Gastro in my area. Can anyone recommend a good kids gastro in the Atlanta region? I'm willing to drive some distance if people can recommend from their personal experiences.

My 4 yr old is having some new problems so I need a dr to do a new evaluation on what might be going on.

Thanks!

I highly recommend Dr. Jeffery Lewis at Children's Center for Digestive Health Care across the street from Scottish Rite Hospital. Dr. Lewis is the best there is for pediatric celiac disease. He founded the local chapter of ROCK (Raising Our Celiac Kids). Very dedicated, smart and friendly.

Good Luck!

Cynthia Rudert is also in Atlanta. Her number is (770) 475-0903.

I will highly recommend Children's Center for Digestive HealthCare.

(affectionatly known as GI Care 4 kids) We use Dr. Stanley Cohen there, but I think all their doctors are good. They're located right across the street from Scottish Rite in Atlanta. They have been wonderful. My son was diagnosed Feb. 2009.

They have a R.O.C.K. Chapter that started out of that doctor's office, (Raising Our Celiac Kids).

Their number is 404-257-0799.

Thanks everyone. I'll see if I can get her in to one of them and get a better answer to her issues.

Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.
