hi!

i have my DH when i was pregnant on my first baby. been in gluten-free diet for over 2 years, but became not so strict with the diet for the last quarter of 2008, so after having uncontrollable blisters again, i decided to go and see my derma and ask if i can have prednisone again, because im seek and tired of just putting topical steroids.

so before i go and see my derma, i have my preg test, and the result is im pregnant...my OB told me to stop any topical steroids, and so i did... the only problem is that im beginning to panic, my DH is getting worse... please help...

My suggestion would be to go back on the gluten-free diet, especially if you are pregnant. That would probably help with you symptoms.

The previous poster is correct; you'll have to go completely gluten free. You can't take steroids or dapsone while pregnant. Be patient; we DHers take a long time to heal after you have an outbreak. How long were you not gluten-free? It can take months for all the gluten to get out of your system and to reduce your outbreaks. My suggestion is to get a big bottle of sarna lotion for sensitive skin (the one with the pramoxine), it will help with the itching. Good luck and congrats!

Thanks Scott. They are gluten-free but cross contaminated.

Hi there @MCAyr I have a small umbilical hernia which came about during my second pregnancy.   I can just about see it, and feel it, when I stand or sit, but it is far less noticeable when I lie down.  I always know when I am putting on weight because I can get pain and burning near the site, funnily enough not on the hernia itself but either side!  I would imagine bloating could cause the same effect as weight gain. In my case I don't think it is my bowel protruding but a bit of fat  - sorry,  I realise this isn't painting a very pretty picture.  But in truth it is scarcely noticeable.  It has never really got bigger in size. I was rather hoping that it could be operated on but here in the UK they don't seem to operate on every hernia anymore.  My GP isn't remotely worried about it. In a way, I should be thankful - it is like an early warning system that I need to go on a diet! Cristiana

The hernia description would likely be unrelated to celiac disease, but you'd need to get it checked out by your doctor to be sure it's a hernia.
