:o Just wondering if anyone out there has had any iron infusions? I have to do this for severe anemia. My 1st experience will be this month to be infused. My daamage is so severe that my iron is slow to enter

I had ten infusions shortly after I was diagnosed. I went to my Dr.'s office 3 x a week until completed. The first infusion takes a long time - it's done very slowly to check for allergic reaction. After that each infusion takes about 1 1/2 hrs.

 Kathy c

Thank you for replying back about the infusions. How do they infuse the iron? Is it through the arm? Could you give me the details? I would appreciate it.

I was severely anemic before being diagnosed and had infusions about 3 times per week. The first time I went in, the doctor used Infed and I had a severe reaction to it. I couldn't breath! Please make sure they explain the possible reactions you can have so they will be prepared. I don't mean to scare you either. They did find an iron that I could accept. It's called Ferrlecit. I had those treatments for approximately 4 weeks. My levels finally came up and then I was diagnosed with celiac disease. I have not had any problems with anemia since. Good luck and hang in there! It will get better!

I also was anemic. They started me on infed as well. It felt as if I was in a High altitude after about 10 min of my first injection. My chest felt tight and hard to breath. This is why they said the first iv would take longer (2-3 hrs) than the rest of the treatments so they can monitor you for these kind of side effects. The iv went in my arm. They placed a temporary line in the part of my arm that is out of the way of bending so I would not have to be stuck everyday. That was nice!!

Tommorrow I will have another cbc. I have started B-12 sublingual. My husband takes them and wants me to as well. Hopes this helps.

It can take longer than 6 months for antibodies to drop to the normal range,  My DGP IgA took a few years as I got stricter and stricter about being gluten free  But having symptoms again could also mean you’re getting some gluten in your diet.

Hi, I just had my 6 month check after being diagnosed Celiac 6 months ago.  All of my panel numbers were normal except: Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA (It is 31 with high being over 30)  I have also been having symptoms again. Am I not actually being as careful as I think I am or does it take longer than 6 months for this particular test to come back down?  I can't get ahold of my doctor this week as she is out.     Thank you!

That is very strange, because it looks to me like two very different test results, but for the same test! It's definitely time to contact your doctor for clarity on this.

Scott, thank you SO MUCH for this!! She has been through so much in the last three years as we've tried to track down answers. This language will definitely help me help her to reframe.
