Difficult Communication

I was wondering if anyone else has/had problems with normal communication? If so, what do you do for it? I get so frustrated with myself because I have such a hard time just talking to people now. I talk too much, can't listen like I used to and don't understand the normal non-verbal cues anymore. Does this go with celiac? Does it go away eventually?

I had problems like this when I had a stroke a few years ago.

Get of full metabolic panel to check for deficiencies. Often times low B-12 can effect your speech and your gait. I had trouble articulating and walking.

I got over it with some B-12 injections initially. Now a multivitamin is all I take.

Listen to Momma Goose. I had the exact same issues. When I discovered my B12 was low, I began supplementing with sublingual Vit B12 3000 mcg 2x per day & found myself able to walk straight(er) lines & hold conversations. Although, my memory is still in the tank. Months later, I began developing the same issues then randomly discovered I was anemic. Hopefully, when my iron levels are upped I'll find myself a social-functioning person again.

Anyhow, vitamin deficiencies can throw off your entire system - especially the brain.

How long does it take to build back the B's if you're supplementing and dietary measures are taken? I'm on the GAPS diet now.........for about a week. Is it permanant if it's gone too long? I tingle, my ears ring, heart jumpes around and I get dizzy all at the same time. Sound like a vitamin shortage? I get so frustrated at trying to have a conversation......and embarrassed, that I prefer to stay alone.

EVERYONE.......THANK YOU FOR THE ANSWERS!! HAPPY WEEKEND!

What is the GAPS Diet?

I would suggested you see a doctor and make the appropriate corrections to your diet, through food or supplement, before it can be a permanent issue.

I'm unsure what the GAPS diet is as well. What supplements are you taking exactly? As I'm sure you're well aware, celiacs have issues with absorption. Until you've fully healed, you mightn't be capable of absorbing tablets.

I know I'm repeating what MommaGoose said, but it sounds like you need to head back to your doctor to check for deficiencies. You may be supplementing the wrong vitamin.

You can go to www.GAPSdiet.com to review the basics. It also goes over the few supplements that are used and how to use them. I've started the cod liver oil and probiotics so far. It's been a last resort since the normal elimination of gluten and grains were not enough to make me feel better at all. I have developed many intestinal problems over the years that I have to address along with the celiac. This is probably not the diet for everyone, but it's been the only thing that has worked for me. The author says it's much the same as the SCD with the exception of the diary, which I'm very allergic to because of the intestinal damage.

Anyway, I can't seem to find out why I have all those strange symptoms, like difficulty communicating. I never had that problem before! It was actually a strong point......but not anymore.

As far as seeing a doctor: I have been faithful in seeing doctor after doctor, but my insurance has cancelled me, I had to quit work and out of money, plus I live alone. It's not for lack of trying these past 10 years, believe me.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
