When A Gluten Free Cake Goes...well...glutened

So....my pal got married and she was sooo pleased to present me with my own little gluten free cake in it's own little box. Loving and trusting her like I do (or maybe is was more my love of cake....) i gobbled the little cake right down....not five seconds later i was all but curled up in the fetal position under the table and am now (two days later) just coming out of it....as if the cramping pains in my intestines isn't enough, my poisoning had to be accompanied by insatiable itching on my right leg and left ear if i could have torn my leg off and used it to pound the itching out of my ear i swear to god i would have done it!! How will i ever trust you again little chocolate cake?????

May I just say that royally sucks!!!!! So sorry! I hope you havent been ruined for cake forever! It's one of life's little joys I am hoping to have again some day (gluten-free of course) when I am a little more healed. I hope you feel better soon!

Oh gosh I am so sorry this happened to you. I wonder if the baker had great intentions but no knowledge of CC issues. I hope you are feeling better really soon.

I suppose it will be awhile before you'll try chocolate cake again... it is the favorite treat in our family since going gluten-free.

We use Bob's Red Mill Chocolate Cake Mix and add a cup of choc chips to the batter.

Frosting is 2 cups choc chips, 1 can sweetened condensed milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla (melt together in saucepan) - it's very smooth - fudge/candy like

This is sinful and no one can tell it is gluten-free.

      I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.
