Anyone Take Grapefruit Seed Extract?

I was wondering if anyone has taken grapefruit seed extract (gse)? I heard it is good for yeast. I have just started taking 10 drops in water three times a day. Boy is it yucky.

I have. I agree that it is so yucky! I would have to "chase" it w/ something. Ugh. I noticed some difference, but not as much as when I took Nystatin. Also, the all natural nasal spray (Nutribiotic, I think is the name) I use contains GSE and I love it!

I'm going to the gyn doctor today. I don't think I can get rid of this without something, diflucan works. The problem being is that they only prescribe you one pill. It does get rid of the immediate infection but does not do anything for whats left to rear its ugly head a few months later. I figure I need to be on something longer. I really am fortunate to only have the gluten and oats issue, so I really don't want to restrict my diet of fruit. I'm ok with giving up most refined sugar and baking with lower gi index gluten free flours. My carb consumption is way down since I'm doing the south beach diet to loose weight. Overall I do feel better. I am finaly not as hungry as when I first started around a month ago. I don't even have that feeling that I've gotta have a candy bar anymore. A little nibble here and there is all I want. I have been doing some experimenting in the kitchen with lower carb flours, truvia, and erythritol. I've made some really good things and it satifies the sweet tooth. When you took the gse did you notice if it suppressed your appetite? Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I don't feel as hungry since I started taking it. Before I really looked forward to my snack and was hungry. Now not so much.

Yes, we have been aware that this can be an issue with mushrooms but as long as they are rinsed thoroughly it should not be a problem since the mushrooms don't actually incorporate the gluten into their cellular structure. For the same reason, one needs to be careful when buying aged cheeses and products containing yeast because of the fact that they are sometimes cultured on gluten-containing substrate.

      The one kind of food I had been buying and eating without any worry for hidden gluten were unprocessed veggies. Well, yesterday I discovered yet another pitfall: cultivated mushrooms. I tried some new ones, Shimeji to be precise (used in many asian soup and rice dishes). Later, at home, I was taking a closer look at the product: the mushrooms were growing from a visible layer of shredded cereals that had not been removed. After a quick web research I learned that these mushrooms are commonly cultivated on a cereal-based medium like wheat bran. I hope that info his helpful to someone.

Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat. Yes, it can be difficult to get much dietary calcium without dairy. But in many cases, it's not the amount of calcium in the diet that is the problem but the poor uptake of it. And too much calcium supplementation can interfere with the absorption of vitamins and minerals in general because it raises gut pH.
