Hi all,

I'm about to go on vacation and was wondering if anyone had any good experiences with their gluten-free diet at restaurants in Las Vegas? I know there is a Whole Foods there where I can always get something but looking for ideas for anything unique, etc.

Hi all,

Well I may have missed your trip by now but for your next visit. It all depends on where you are staying. If you are downtown one of my favorite italian restaurants is conveniently located. Its call Maggianos and its inside the fashion show mall. I have never had a problem there. I absolutely love their chicken parmesan and alfredo. They make all their sauces from scratch for you. The waiters are very knowledgable about eating gluten free. Sometimes they tell you they dont think they can do the chicken parmesean but i just tell them to ask the chef and he does it without a problem. PF Changs has a decent size gluten free menu and even has gluten free soy sauce and a chocolate desert! There are a few pizza places such as Sammy's Woodfire Pizza, Mark Richs, and a new one which is getting great reviews called the saucy tomato. There is a place that serves fish sticks, its called Lazy Joe's fish and chips. I havent tried it yet but once again great reviews. The local support group even held their meeting there. And if you get a sweet tooth there is a local bakery called Posh Cakes Bakery that has multiple options available. Finally, if you are craving some frozen yogurt, there is a place called U-Swirl. I used to work there. All the machines are labeled with the flavor and allergies. Most flavors are gluten free. When it comes to the toppings I would avoid most things except for the fruit because of cross contamination. It is all self serve so things tend to fall in the wrong buckets when people are topping their yogurt. I have also read that the mirage is very helpful. I think most MGM properties are. I know the food director at Excalibur has a son on a strict gluten free diet plus many other things. If you plan on eating at any hotels just contact the manager and they will be more than willing to help you.

Just back from 4 days in Vegas and we had a great time

We found the BEST Gluten Free pizza made from scratch at 'THE SAUCY TOMATO' restaurant, located at 3870 E. Flamingo Road

Don't be put off because it's located in a mini mall, the pizza is fantastic and at $10 for a 10 inch pizza, we had a Hawaiian with tomatoes, believe me, you will thank me for this.

Phil the owner is a great guy, he has a friend who was Celiac and decided to try to make them a better tasting pizza.

Phil is very friendly and the pizza tastes just like regular pizza dough, not like the cardboard attempts we are so used to

Please do yourself a favour and go check it out

We also ate at the MORE Buffet in the Luxor, just ask to speak to a chef and they will 'walk you through' what you can have (LOTS by the way) and what to stay away from

Also check out the OUTBACK Steakhouse 2 miles south of the strip towards the Las Vegas outlet mall...they have a gluten-free menu and we enjoyed a steak and lobster dinner which was really reasonably priced

All of the hotels we visited were pretty good when you advised them you were on a gluten free diet.

Don't let anyone hold you back from travelling and enjoying life...it only takes a few minutes to ask and in our experience, all of the chefs and servers we spoke to were only too happy to oblige

Celiac Disease is a Blessing, head up and you'll be amazed at how much better life is when you embrace it and 'pay it forward'

      Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic.       Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce. Something is making my pain so much worse I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs. Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever...

      We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

      Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
