So, I've been staying away from corn, as I've realized it doesn't agree with me. I've felt SOOO much better since I cut that out. I went to a baby shower on Saturday and brought a dip/salady dish. That was gluten-free, obviously. I brought corn chips for it for the others and brought my own crackers for myself. All I had while I was there was fruit salad and the dip with my crackers. That afternoon, evening and the next day I was NOT feeling good. I was suspecting I had gluten somehow but then I started thinking about the corn chips. If someone dipped the corn chips into the same dip could that small an amount have given me a reaction? I know it's like that with gluten but do you find it's like that with other foods you're sensitive to? Just trying to figure it all out. :)

I am by no means an "Expert" but I would say that yes if you have a severe sensitivity that you could have been CC'd by the corn chips touching your dip. I am very lucky (or maybe unlucky) that I do not have reactions to CC. I know that it still can do damage, but I have a hard time knowing when that does happen.

Yes, you can be glutened with the cc from the dip. Although, I think frito lay corn chips are gluten free (plain ones). I was glutened when I brought some barbeque beef to work and everyone took the spoon and rubbed it on thier bread when making their sandwiches. Was sick for several days because of this. Needless to say, I no longer participate in shared lunches at work....

yeah, just about anything could have gotten into your food if it was sitting on a buffet table. Not just the corn chips but crumbs from something else on the table.

Buffets scare the crap out of me!

      I'm very confused... My blood test came out negative, I checked all antibodies. I suppose my Total IgA levels are normal (132 mg/dl), so the test should be reliable. Still, I'm not relieved as I can't tolerate even a single biscuit. I need to talk to my doctor about whether a duodenal biopsy is necessary. But it is really possible to have intestinal damage despite having a seronegative results? I have really strong symptoms, and I don't want to keep skipping university lectures or being bedridden at home.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      @JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.
