Legionnaires

Hi there. Along with having coeliac, I have only just been diagnosed with legionnaires disease. I've had it for probably two months, and only now have the diagnosis. Although not requiring hospital treatment, I feel rather lousy. Anybody got any good advise on how to manage this. ie, I need to build up my immunity. I'm not a smoker, gave up 20 years ago, have not got lung problems (though now I suspect I have), nor am I too old at 53. I don't seem to have any of the major risk factors for the disease, I guess I have just had bad luck on my side.

Thanks.

Cathy

Whoever diagnosed you should have also prescribed antibiotics to kill the bacteria which causes that disease. Hopefully, you've already begun to take whatever you were prescribed. While you take any antibiotics, you may also need to take probiotics to replenish the good bacteria which the antibiotics kill while they eliminate the bad bacteria. You may also want to follow that antibiotic treatment with even more high dose probiotics. Some people prefer to only take probiotics after treatment, because they assume all the probiotics are killed off by the antibiotic drug. However, I've noticed that I don't get antibiotic induced diarrhea, when I take probiotics during antibiotic or even antiparasitic drug treatments.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
