All right, so I dont have any noticeable DH (least not as far as I know), or nuthin, but I have always had a problem with products coming in contact with my skin. I always thought I just had super sensitive skin. So for years, I searched for the perfect hypoallergenic sensitive skin formula, for both my hair and body. Never did find a good fit, so I live with itchy scalps and skin and quite often red skin. Yesterday I decided to find gluten free products for my skin and hair (I had not done so yet, but had resolved to do so) when I did my next grocery shop. Last night I used all the products, and sure enough, I feel like a new woman... Who knew my skin didnt like gluten all this time.

SO I definitely think that gluten can have an effect even if you aint been diagnosed with DH. I feel like a new woman!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!

Just had to share my success story with yall because I spent 10 years tryin to find good personal care products I could use.

It was the 365 brand fragrance free items at whole foods. Conditioner/Lotion/Shampoo/Shower Gel (And the shower gel works well for shavin too I noticed. Not a cut for the first time in my life!!!!!!!!!!!) I also got their hand soap too. I also like Toms of Maine products too. I got that in deodorant and toothpaste. Definitely good choices.

Thanks. I think God is telling me to get new shampoo. :). It spilled all over the shower, when no one was around. Then the last 2 times I have used what was left, a whole lot came pouring out.

Thats the worst!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have had that problem with my worst shampoos. That or the lid will pop off and then they fall in the tub while I am takin a bath (a rare occurance because I cant stand sittin in a tub more than five minutes, and it also dries my skin out more than a shower does.) I figure time to try another shampoo/conditioner/soap when that happens. I have to say though of everythin I bought, I am most impressed with the lotion, but that is mostly because I aint found a lotion in the world that I can use other than baby lotion which actually dont do much for my excessively dry skin. Most are scented and for some reason all the fragrances have somethin in em that makes me wanna shoot somethin the reaction is horrible, or they are just not made hypoallergenic or for sensitive skin. I found that the WF 365 lotion does make me feel good. Hallelujah. But like I said, all the above mentioned products are good and made me happy!

I have yet to be diagnosed, but for years I thought the problem was skin sensitivity. (still could be,but doubtful) I've spent sooo much money on shampoos. JUst when I thought I found the right one, I get the itching. I think I will have to try the same stuff. Thanks.

Incidentally, I don't like quinoa either. Reminds me and smells to me like wet grass seed. When its not washed before cooking it makes me ill because of saponins in the seed coat.       oh that's interesting... it's hard to say for sure but it has *seemed* like oats might be causing me some vague issues in the past few months. It's odd that I never really connect specific symptoms to foods, it's more of an all over feeling of unwellness after  eating them.  If it happens a few times after eating the same foods- I cut back or avoid them. for this reason I avoid dairy and eggs.  So far this has worked well for me.  oh, I have some of Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot cereal and I love it! it's hard to find but I will be looking for more.  for the next few weeks I'm going to be concentrating on whole fresh fruits and veggies and beans and nuts and seeds. I'll have to find out if grains are truly necessary in our diet. I buy brown rice pasta but only eat that maybe once a month at most. Never liked quinoa. And all the other exotic sounding grains seem to be time consuming to prepare. Something to look at later. I love beans and to me they provide the heft and calories that make me feel full for a lot longer than a big bowl of broccoli or other veggies. I can't even tolerate the plant milks right now.  I have reached out to the endo for guidance regarding calcium intake - she wants me to consume 1000mgs from food daily and I'm not able to get to more than 600mgs right now.  not supposed to use a supplement until after my next round of testing for hyperparathyroidism.   thanks again- you seem to know quite a bit about celiac.

      Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SilkieFairy! You could also have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) as opposed to celiac disease. They share many of the same symptoms, especially the GI ones. There is no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out.
