Er... Dunno What I Should Call This

Rowena Rising Star

Okay so I am a people pleaser, and my parents are sort of hard to please. All my life I have worked hard to please them. They were the kind of parents who if I didnt get an A in my classes (particularly math) they would say its not good enough. So all through high school and first year and a half of college, I wasnt good enough. Yeah, well thats just a little example. But anyway, it was ever so hard to get them to say even just a good job.

Anyway, I had to tell someone how I was feelin and how much better I feel after workin so hard to get this way, and so I called up my mom. She actually told me, after I told her all my excitements of late, (most of which I have shared with all ya'll already as they have happened.) that she was really proud of me. That, in my recollection has never happened! I am so utterly overjoyed, that I cannot explain how I feel. All I can say is that I have tears in my eyes...

Anyway, I just wanted to share with all ya'll that little tidbit.

kareng Grand Master

My parents were a bit like that, too. I don't know how old you are, but as I got older and had kids, I realized that a lot of it wasn't that The B+ wasn't good enough. It was just that they thought I could do better if I studied a little more.

I try to tell my kids that as long as they tried hard, then it's a good grade. We tell them that the decision to study or get help with a class is theirs. I can make them sit with a book, but I can't make them learn. These decisions will determine the path their lives will take. What schools or programs they can get into. Even if a teacher will cut you a little slack if something goes wrong and you are usually a good student.

Off my parenting lecture & back to Rowena. :). I'm happy that your mom was able to tell you that. If you can find something nice to say about her and how she helped you, it might encourage a New Age of Openess.

Yeah, when you finally measure up after never being quite good enough, it is an awesome feeling. How long some of us struggle for just that one moment of praise :o:D YOUR MOM IS PROUD OF YOU!!! Yay.

Yes, I, too, have osteoporosis from years of malabsorption, too.  Thiamine and magnesium are what keep the calcium in place in the bones.  If one is low in magnesium, boron, selenium, zinc, copper, and other trace minerals, ones bone heath can suffer.  We need more than just calcium and Vitamin D for strong bones.  Riboflavin B 2, Folate B 9 and Pyridoxine B 6 also contribute to bone formation and strength.   Have you had your thyroid checked?  The thyroid is important to bone health as well.  The thyroid uses lots of thiamine, so a poorly functioning thyroid will affect bone heath.

That sounds so very likely in my case! I will absolutely ask my doctor on my next bone check coming up in March... Thanks a lot!

Calcium levels as measured in the blood can be quite deceiving as the body will rob calcium from the bones to meet demands for it by other bodily functions. Also, supplementing with calcium can be counterproductive as it tends to raise gut pH and decrease absorption. More often than not, the problem is poor absorption to begin with rather than deficiency of intake amounts in the diet. Calcium needs an acidic environment to be absorbed. This is why so many people on PPIs develop osteoporosis. The PPIs raise gut pH. And some people have high gut PH for other reasons. Low pH equates to a more acidic environment whereas high pH equates to a more basic (less acidic) environment.

Kind thanks for all this valuable information! Since my Folate was/is low and also my Calcium, there IS a chance I am low in B vitamins... My doctor only measured the first two, oh and Zinc as I has twisted her arm and guess what, that was mega low too. So who knows, until I get myself tested properly, what else I am deficient in... I did a hair mineral test recently and it said to avoid All sources of Calcium. But this is confusing for me as my Ca is so low and I have osteoporosis because of this. It is my Adjusted Ca that is on the higher side and shouldn't be. So am not sure why the mineral test showed high Ca (well, it was medium in the test but relative to my lowish Magnesium, also via hair sample, it was high I was told). But anyway, thanks again for the VitB download, I will look into this most certainly!

Hello good afternoon, I was wondering if anyone has ever brought their anti-allergy pills? I have been wanting to use their Cetirizine HCI 10mg. They are called HealthA2Z and distributed by Allegiant Health.I’m also Asthmatic and these allergies are terrible for me but I also want to be sure they don’t have any sort of gluten compound.    I have tried calling them but to no avail. Has anyone ever used them? If so, did you had any problems or no problems at all?    thank you
