Does anyone know if The Dove Peanut Butter Chocolate is dairy and gluten free? I have an extream sensitivity to dairy and gluten. If I barely intake either i get very sick and all the other symptoms that come with both.

If you were to go to the Dove website, it will give you the ingredients. It lists milk as one of the first ingredients. Don't take my word for it, check it out. Took me less then 60 seconds.

Also, the name is "milk chocolate".

LOL... I know that they have changed the ingreadents then. They used to make it without all the milk. I think it was like a sugar alcohol and coco or something like that. I was just checking to see if someone might know if it was still dairy free. Thank You for the quick response. I've been trying to find something sweet that's not so Expensive but looks like that's an out. I think i should just give up on sweets. All the Gluten/Dairy free stuff i've tried taste like your eating sand or dirt. Thanks Again.

What about starburst and skittles? Jelly bellys? Check but probably no milk.

Yeah, I eat those and love them. Never get sick from them either, but just trying to find some chocolate. But the bad news is, I went to the doctor about two weeks ago and got blood work done and he called today and now he want's me to stay away from sweets. Go figure lol. So, going Dairy Free, Gluten Free, and now No sweets..... LOL.

Is it because your fasting glucose was high? If so be aware that if you are early into the diet you are still ill and that can raise those numbers. Have your doctor recheck in a couple of months.

Also watch out for how many carbs your consuming if your BS is high. A book on the glycemic index of foods can be helpful in pinpointing which foods are going to impact your BS the least.

Moderation is the key. You may be able to have a candy bar occasionally if you skip the chips with lunch.

No, my sugars are all fine. I just love sweets. But, I don't have to worry about that anymore. My doctor just said that my bad cholesterol was just a little high and sad to cut out fatty foods. And i know that sweets make bad fat. So, cutting out that bad stuff. I did eat sweets to keep my weight up casue if I don't then my bodyweight just starts to drop. It's really werd, my entire life I was over weight and always had health issues, and now going Gluten & Dairy Free i feel so much better and lose weight like crazy.

I have diabetes and am underweight and manage stricly with diet alone and I'm quite sensitive. No meds or insulin. Plus I am dairy-free, soy-free etc. etc. But I can still have some dark chocolate! Whole Foods sells Kallari 85% dark and Lindt makes 85% dark, both of which have very small amounts of sugar. There is some CC risk with both, as far as soy and milk go, so depends on how sensitive you are. They taste better if dipped in coconut oil.

For the weight issue, keeping protein portions up-meat and eggs can help keep weight on. In the absence of carbs, that alone has been successful for me. Keeping blood sugar in a good range can help with the cholesterol, believe it or not. Many diabetics on low-carb diets find that their cholesterol improves, despite the fact that they eat lots of fat, and saturated fat at that. So generally, dropping the sweets and carbs can help with that. The reason that people gain weight with sweets, aside from the extra calories is that they cause a release of large amounts of insulin and insulin is the fat building hormone. But as I said, there are ways to gain weight in a healthy way.

Yeah, I have a lot of protein in my diet now. I have three eggs every morning, left overs from the night before for lunch, and a couple of pieces of chicken at night, or something else we make that is homemade. I know that sweets are bad for me though and i could stand to lose a little more weight. lol. And my dairy issue is pretty extreme along with the Celiac. So, I try to stay clear of it, but that isn't always easy due to Cross Contamination. Our Not So Good Friend.

      @Joe R Thanks for clarifying! That's what I've heard, too, about Italy, but I've never been, sad face. Almost no one on these boards would recommend the approach of your GI doc, and would instead stick with yours. (Maybe if a "glutening" causes so many discomforts and inconveniences that it just overwhelms your life, and you have nothing else to do...maybe.) But, generally in the clinical setting, coming off prednisone requires a taper, as suddenly quitting can cause problems. Anyway, good for you!

      I am 58 years old and was diagnosed two years ago with Celiac Disease based on an EGD showing lymphocytic infiltrates and blunted villi in my duodenum. Lab work shows a severe IgA deficiency. Is it worthwhile to consult with an immunologist regarding the IgA deficiency?  I don’t seem to have any chronic sinus issues or infections but feel like I should get more information regarding the consequences of not having IgA from an expert. I live in Atlanta and surprisingly I have yet to find an immunologist that specializes in this area. Does anyone have a suggestion as to who I con consult with?  I’m sure that telemedicine consults can easily be accomplished these days if I can’t find a local...

      I was diagnosed in 1994 with celiac disease by Kaiser with biopsy and was told to stay away from wheat and I'll be just fine.I have and Im not.Had my first baby in 94 and my tolerance level was horrible.Having a celiac episode we all know how its horrible with the vomiting and digestive issues. Never googled because internet wasn't around.Still pushing through that's my normal.In 2001 was busy with my sick baby that went through the ringer with severe chronic Neutropenia it was horrible times he out grew it now almost 24 years old this month. In 2007 still digestive issues had blood drawn and have many food allergies.  told my primary im celiac ( i had primary Dr 25 YEARS up til...

      That was the suggestion from my GI doc but I never book the medicine and maintained a strict gluten free diet. Actually, Italy is much more sensitive to gluten free diets than the US, I found.

      @Joe R are you saying that while traveling in Italy as a person with Celiac disease, you are eating gluten-containing foods and taking prednisone to dampen down the flares? Plumbago
