Staying At A B&B?

Has anyone successfully stayed at a Bed and Breakfast and gotten safe food? I know most places will have fruit, but I hate to spend the whole weekend eating bananas for breakfast. I was wondering if there are any places that accomodate gluten free and other food intolerances. What can they make that's safe? Any websites to explore with gluten free B&B listings? I'm especially looking for a places in North Carolina, Virginia or DC area, but any other suggestions around the country are welcome (I like to travel and if we don't stay there for this trip maybe we will for another trip).

I would be very wary about doing this, even if they say they cater to gluten-free people. I would think that cc is a big problem for this kind of establishment unless they are very large with a professional kitchen. For breakfast, I'd stick with yogurt, fruit, cottage cheese, gluten-free cereals - maybe things that will fit in a cooler that you can keep in your room. That's what I did on a recent trip that we took to hotels that offered breakfasts/continental breakfasts.

But if you do find a b&b that works, please let us know!

Thanks, I haven't found one yet, but I'm looking. I've done hotels successfully by just bringing my own food and only eating banana and hard boiled eggs from the breakfast buffet. I was hoping there were some B&B's out there that know how to handle gluten free food requests, but cc is a very real concern for me. I'm looking at romantic weekend packages in the Virginia mountains and almost everything I'm seeing is at B&B's. My problem is trying to figure out if the costs of the packages are worth it when food is usually included in the price. sigh. back to the drawing board. I can plan a much less expensive weekend at a regular hotel and bring my own food, but I'm wanting gorgeous views, rooms with fireplaces and a big soaking tub or jacuzzi in a semi-private retreat area. All the cabin rentals seem to be for big parties or a family and are out of my price range for a weekend.

I found this by typing 'gluten free bed and breakfast in Virginia' in google.

6 places come up as offering gluten free meals. Maybe one of these would work for you. I'm not familiar with Virginia so I'm not sure if these are in the mountains. You could call to see how they prep and handle CC.

Good luck!

Thank you! We actually found a cabin we can afford for the weekend. It's in the mountains with a kitchen so I will just pack all my food and cook for the weekend, but I will be looking into these B&B's for future vacations. It's nice to know there are some places that will make an effort.

Could you wear a mask at work to reduce your inhalation of flour?

Sounds like for the good of your own mental health its time to find another living space anyway. It may be best for everyone concerned.

In the U.S. endoscopies are typically done under light sedation. You wouldn't even be aware of what's going on or remember it.

Thank you both so much, for the helpful advice on this topic & I am happy that it's not in my head,on my body telling me that something is up with my symptoms & needs a doctor's input on. I have a strong feeling in my gut, that my symptoms are either related to a gluten sensitivity,or even Celiac Disease itself. I am keeping a detailed track of my symptoms,& what foods I ate that triggered them to happen, because I know this will help me to better answer my doctor's questions on my symptoms. I am gonna ask for the blood test,& I am a little nervous lol about maybe having to get the Endoscopy but honestly if the blood test & Endoscopy helps diagnose whatever issues going on with my digestive system & the rest of my body,& why I haven't felt good in what feels like forever, then I will gladly get whatever diagnostic procedure needed. I will keep everyone updated on the doctor appointment & if there ends up being a diagnosis😊

Thank you. They said I'm gonna be kicked out but I have to find somewhere else to live anyway.
