Hi everyone,

I have been diagnosed with IBS but the more I read about that is just an easy out for DR. I am told that I cannot be celiac because I am obese. that is a quote from a GI Dr. i left.

The symptoms I have are:

u can have Celiac or Gluten Intolerance and be overweight for sure. i always was heavier while eating gluten and usually constipated... i would get the "D" with Milk products... but my body has always been the type to HALT metabolism and swell up when im sick or have "D"... very survival mode..

plus there's other things at play that could make u put on weight with gluten intolerance.. too many grains in the diet (esp wheat) can cause Insulin Resistance.. too much inflammation can raise your cortisol .. and just swell you up.. and if you have any Hashimoto's antibodies in your thyroid-> then Gluten can trigger that- slowing your thyroid down.

good luck, hope u find your answers !

well I just got the call they say that the test is negative. They said are you feeling better ? I said no I am not. Then they asked me did you just have mono, why would they ask that, I did not. And that I should follow up with a GI doctor. I have been doing this for three years now. I just want someone to tell me what is wrong with me. Thank you for the information. I guess I am back to square one. I will look in other directions.

Hi Sarbee,

Why don't you just try going gluten free and see what happens. You might feel a lot better! :)

Testing is not the total answer to celiac/gluten intolerance. There is at least a 20% error rate of false negatives. There are also conditions known as latent celiac or non-celiac gluten intolerance. Most of the people who do not tolerate gluten well are not celiacs - Dr. Rodney Ford estimates that 30% of the population is gluten intolerant to some extent. Give the gluten free diet a good trial and see if it works for you. You may be surprised. And eliminate lactose initially too because the two often go hand in hand until you are healed from the gluten damage.

thank you both. I am going to try this.

This treatment looks promising. Its aim is to provoke immune tolerance of gluten, possibly curing the disease. It passed the phase 2 trial with flying colours, and I came across a post on Reddit by one of the study volunteers. Apparently, the results were good enough that the company is applying for fast track approval.  Anokion Announces Positive Symptom Data from its Phase 2 Trial Evaluating KAN-101 for the Treatment of Celiac Disease https://www.reddit.com/r/Celiac/comments/1krx2wh/kan_101_trial_put_on_hold/

Hi everyone  This has been a crazy year so far... How many people actually get entire sensory overload from gluten or something similar ?  My jaw is going nuts ..and that nerve is affecting my upper back and so on ...  Bones even hurt.  Brain fog. Etc  I had eggs seemed fine.   Then my aid cooked a chicken stir fry in the microwave because my food order shorted a couple key items .   I was so hungry but I noticed light breading and some ingredients with SOY !!! Why are we suffering with soy ? This triggered a sensitivity to bananas and gluten-free yogurt it seems like it's a cycle that it goes on.  The tiniest amount of something gets me I'm guessing the tiny bit of breading that I took one tiny nibble of ...yikes ..im cringing from it .. Feels like my stomach is going to explode yet still very hungry 😔  How long does this last?! Thank you so much

I have had orthodontic work done. The 3M invisalign material was no problem. BUT my retainers are another matter. They seemed okay for a few months. Now, however, they cause a burning sensation on my tongue, gums and insides of my lips. The burning sensation is now spreading to my throat. I notice it when I breathe. This is annoying and interferes with my enjoyment of eating. I am visiting with my provider tomorrow. We'll see where this goes from here.
