Itchy Skin After Eating Cream Of Wheat!

Sometimes I can eat gluten without seeing any immediate reaction to it. But I just had a bowl of cream of wheat, and now the skin on my my neck and arms is burning and itching. Does that sound typical with Celiac? (I haven't been diagnosed yet, so am having to still eat gluten. I go to the GI doctor on Wednesday.)

Why can I sometimes eat gluten and not seem to have any problems at the time (though maybe bowel problems later). And can symptoms come and go? Do you have flare up of neurological and/or GI symptoms sometimes?

Thanks and hugs,

Lisa

I don't have any scientific data to prove this but, sometimes I think it may depend on what else we have in our stomachs at the same time. Maybe it pushes it thru faster or coats the gluten or the intestine. Maybe pure wheat on an empty stomach would cause more reaction.

I see this with my son & high fructose corn syrup which can be hard to digest. If he drinks a soda on an empty stomach - pain. with a meal - fine.

Good luck with the appt.

Edited to say : Son is 18 and knows this to be true but sometimes.... (Didn't want you to think he was little)

The Lindt (Lindor) dairy-free oat milk truffles are definitely gluten-free, and (last time I checked) so are the white chocolate truffles and the mint chocolate truffles.

I've used magnesium taurinate and magnesium taurate vitamins.  Didn't notice much of a difference when I used them.

More great tips, and a good excuse to shop at M&S and also buy more iced buns!   I wish we had an ASDA near us, as the few times we've been to one their gluten-free pasta range seemed very reasonably priced compared to other shops.  Thanks so much, @Russ H.
