So I had an egd and a colonoscopy on Monday and let's just say it wasn't a great experience. I woke up several times throughout the procedure and it was ungodly painful...they couldn't give me any more pain medication because my blood pressure was too low but the "twilight sedation" didn't take. That alone was unpleasant enough and make my vomiting during the prep seem like a cake walk.

But NOW...I have this horrible rumbling pain under my brestbone, which is obviously gas but how do I get it to go away. The doctor seemed confused as to why it was still lingering around but didn't seem concerned that anything else might be wrong. It's rumbling and uncomfortable in my upper abdominal area. I've gone to the bathroom (TMI, sorry) a bunch of times but it still hasn't relieved the pressure.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Here I am 4 days after the procedure still miserable. :(

Can you take Pepto Bismal liquid? If you can that might help. I'm sorry you had such and awful experience. Your not alone on that. I had the same problem when I had the procedures done with my ex-GI. They didn't use an anesthesiologist the GI doctor did the drugs and the experience was horrible. My new GI had a good anesthesiologist put me under when he did my procedures and I had no problems then. If you have to have the procedures done again in the future do let the doctors know what happened so they can make sure it doesn't happen again.

i dont have any advice- as i did not get the endoscopy- or have the UPPER abdominal rumbling and pain that you have. im assuming its from vomiting, getting an endo, and being sensitive or having muscle spasms.

if it makes you feel any better-> i was in discomfort for about 5 days after my colonoscopy. my twilight was fantastic.. and procedure smooth- but i had PAINFUL gas for a good 5 days later- which as you may know- MOST people only feel slight gas for the rest of the day or nothing. the nurse didnt want me to leave the clinic or take the iv out- untill i had passed all the gas- and i was like "LADY- i KNOW my body- this is gonna take at least 24 hours to pass... " ugh, they were so ANNOYING- i was in so much pain i just wanted to go home and lay on my stomach on a heating pad- so i just had to lie- and say it was all gone.. <_<

recently i have been dx with thyroid disease & Vit D defiecency- both of which can affect gastric movement and muscle spasms... im sure that contributed to my pain.

im sure yours is partly from being sick, and the trauma of being awake. maybe try stuff like pepto to calm the stomach... maybe take a xanax or a muscle relaxer... and sleep and relax... if it doesnt get better- call your doctor

hope u feel better soon!!

A confirmed diagnosis of refractory coeliac disease is required to participate in the study unfortunately. Apologies you are feeling miserable even though you have remained gluten-free, I hope you are able to receive further understanding as to why from the relevant medical professional. I am hoping to provide copies of the content used in this study following its completion end of this year so will make a note to post on here when the study is complete, a copy of the resources used from the group.

Do you think it’s a vitamin issue that could make celiac symptoms worse during recovery ?

Multivitamin products are seldom potent to offset the vitamin and mineral deficiencies that typically result from long term undiagnosed celiac disease. We commonly recommend sublingual B12, a B-complex 5-10k IU of D3, 400 mg daily of magnesium glycinate, and zinc picolinate. The forms of certain vitamins like magnesium and zinc are important since it has a significant impact on absorbability. If you live near a Costco, the Kirkland Signature series and Nature Made lines are good quality choices and economical. And they will indicate on the packaging if they are gluten free.

I’ve been taking a multivitamin however my doctors appointment is not available till next month for any specific vitamin tests

Are you addressing possible/probable vitamin and mineral deficiencies through some serious supplementation?
