I have a question, now I know you are not supposed to eat french fries that are fried in the same oil as anything breaded or any not gluten free but when i eat fries from a restuant that are not fried seperatly it doesn't bother my stomach. So my question is, is it ok to still eat the fries, because it does not bother my stomach at all, my aunt who is also a celiac said not to eat them because it could cause damage down the road, but I think that if it were doing any damage then my stomach would hurt, am i right? Lets just say I hope I am!! Thanks!!

Nope you are not right at all. If something is contaminated then you will still get damage from it whether you feel it or not. Some people never get symptoms but get just as much damage. It will hurt you in the long run.

When I first heard about the fries, I was pretty upset. Eating bread itself never upset my stomach before I went on the diet, but it is most likely still damaging the intestines. I would talk to the manager of a restaurant you like to go to and find out if the oil is reused, what kind of oil is used, what foods are cooked in the fryers, etc. McDonalds fries are gluten free.

Unfortunatly, thank you because i was just going to keep eating fries without asking what their frying situation was but now i wont, its dissapointing but if it is doing damage then I wont eat them anymore. :( Only very few places around me fry fries seperatly so i got sick of asking and when i found out it didnt hurt i thought i was in the clear, Thanks everyone for the help!

Yet there is a tendency among celiacs to cite absence of symptoms as evidence that a food is gluten free.

So if Tracykobegf had not inquired about the frier, he/she might have reported an eating out success story in a format with which we are all familiar, "I eat the fries at such-and-such and have never had any problem."

@JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.

This is not standard when looking for celiac disease.  Is it CT enterography? That type of CT can be used when looking for Crohn’s disease or IBD.  CT will see more of the small intestine than can be seen during an endoscopy, as well as the large intestine.

Is it normal for you to have a CT with contrast as well as endoscopy with biopsy. When being diagnosed.
