Approaching Doctor For Test

Hello, I was recently diagnosed with being fructose intolerant, lactose intolerant and having IBS. I have cut out everything that I was told to cut out but I am still having symptoms. My fiances mother has celiac and she thinks I should be tested as well.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has taken the bulls by the horn and requested the test from their doctor? I just feel a bit weird walking in there and asking for a test that she has never suggested to me. I know it's for my health but I feel a bit odd.

Any info would be great!!

Of course you should go in there and request it. There is nothing wrong with doing that and no reason to feel weird. They get paid enough and should follow the request. If your doctor will not then find one who will.

Absolutely! Often times the individual has a better sense of what's going on with their body than the doctor :) Like Kaiti said--if your doc gives you a hard time, go to another. Most types of docs can give you the blood test.

      That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

      Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

      Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

      Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
