Extreme Bloating

In need of advice. I recently was tested for Celiac and the two test they did came back negative. I am a walking poster child for Celiac. I have been on a gluten free diet, but when I get it unknowingly I get a pain in the upper left corner of my abdomen. This time the pain went all the way across to my right side and has stayed there for the 4th day now. I had to go to the ER because the pain got so bad. The doctor says that I am full of gas. He gave me pain medication and something to relax my bowels. I have never known gas to stay in your gut for this long. I can't hardly eat because I get so bloated. I went from going to the bathroom frequently and being sick to not going to the bathroom and still feeling bad. I have never had a problem with constipation or extreme gas, but now I do and I don't know what to do. This was the second trip to the ER, the first time was constipation, this time gas.

I used to get gas pains that left me writhing on the floor a few nights per week, so I know what you mean. One thing that helped me substantially was to simply get on my hands and knees for a while ("doggy style") and let it pass. I also bought a certain hot tea that was supposed to help with bloating...and it truly did, though I forgot what was in it.

      They may want to also eliminate other possible causes for your symptoms/issues and are doing additional tests.  Here is info about blood tests for celiac disease--if positive an endoscopy where biopsies of your intestinal villi are taken to confirm is the typical follow up.

      In the Europe the new protocol for making a celiac disease diagnosis in children is if their tTg-IgA (tissue transglutaminase IgA) levels are 10 times or above the positive level for celiac disease--and you are above that level. According to the latest research, if the blood test results are at certain high levels that range between 5-10 times the reference range for a positive celiac disease diagnosis, it may not be necessary to confirm the results using an endoscopy/biopsy: Blood Test Alone Can Diagnose Celiac Disease in Most Children and Adults TGA-IgA at or Above Five Times Normal Limit in Kids Indicates Celiac Disease in Nearly All Cases No More Biopsies to Diagnose Celiac Disease in Children! May I ask why you've had so many past tTg-IgA tests done, and many of them seem to have been done 3 times during short time intervals?

      @JettaGirl, "Coeliac" is the British spelling of "celiac". Same disease.

      This may sound ridiculous but is this supposed to say Celiacs? I looked up Coeliacs because you never know, there’s a lot of diseases related to a disease that they come up with similar names for. It’s probably meant to say Celiacs but I just wanted to confirm.

      I was told it was to see how much damage has been caused. But just told CT with contrast not any other name for it.
