Symptoms Of Cd Dh

My daughter has had eczema since she was 3 months old. at 18 months, it was so bad that the skin was cracking open bleeding. The traditional meds, coritzone, elidel etc., weren't working. I did some reasearch and found that eczema could be an allergic reaction. So we did a blood test. She is 'allergic' to Wheat, Oat, Barley, Rye, Soy, Corn, Egg-whites and peanuts. My husbands brother has celiac disease. So I automatically thought celiac. The pediatrician feels that she is not celiac beause she has no gastrointestinal reaction.... so here's my question... If any one here has DH did you have any typical signs of celiac disease?

Thanks,

Amy

I have DH and I do get "typical" celiac disease symptoms, however I don't think that they are as severe or long-lasting as others.

Same for me...

I have often assumed I am gluten intolerant with DH, but do not have celiac disease as the ill efects are usually for a day or two at the most.

She could be GI, but not have celiac disease (but have DH)......k?

I originally sought treatment for skin problems and was diagnosed with dh and, thus, celiac disease by my dermatologist. Looking back, I realize that I have had GI problems here and there, but nothing that made me see a specialist or allergist or anything. Your daughters skin sounds just like my daughter's was at her age. She had terrible excema, just as you describe. She also has the peanut allergy. Good news is she is eighteen now, packing for college, and rarely has skin flareups. She has no symptoms of celiac disease and has not been tested, although if she starts to show any GI signs or dh symptoms, she'll be tested for sure. It sounds like your daughter will need to avoid gluten anyway because of the allergies, You may see her skin clear up when her diet changes. Good Luck to you both.

I used to get bad eczema when I was younger, but it went away and I have no idea if it was celiac disease related. However, I've recently started to develop a DH like rash when I get an accidental gluten ingestion. I also get most of the typical symptoms of celiac disease like mild to severe stomach pain, gas, bloating, diarrhea, fatigue, and brain fog

(I am also allergic to wheat in addition to having celiac disease).

Hello, I was very stick,  with flu like symptoms, but my virus panel came back negative and we couldn’t figure out what’s going on. The doctor then added a celiac panel.  Has anyone ever had such a dramatic change?  What are the odds this is true celiac I am going to have an endoscopy, but it’s expensive and I just feel like why can’t the labs be enough?

Eating out in general is full of risks, but this article may help:

This kind of question is always difficult to give a definitive answer to because of so many variables. One such variable is the sensitivity of the individual celiac to small amounts of gluten cross contamination. An amount that causes a reaction in one celiac many not in another, or at least not be discernable which, of course, does not exactly equate to being "safe".

I don't live in the US, but based on this thread, I wouldn't risk it:   https://www.reddit.com/r/glutenfree/comments/1n2ehw8/cracker_barrel/   This app is helpful: https://www.findmeglutenfree.com/

I see that Cracker Barrel restaurants have a gluten free menu (not all locations, but one confirmed that they do). I was wondering if it is safe for my 5 year old son with celiac disease?
