Plz Help Im Very Confused

Ok im 15 and I have been sick for a little while so i started going to a child speciliest.I was diagonsoed with lactose intolerent when i was alittle baby but than it went away but came back and i tohught nothing of it at first , i even got rid of dairy and still got sick sometimes . My symptoms were vomiting ,direeha,really bad pains,tired.I fould like everything would have an effect on me .My doc tested me for celac threw a blood test and fould nothing ( i was off flour and everything when i got tested ).She still has no i dea what it is .So i went to a dietishion and she mentioned celac to me and put me on the diet.The dietision thinkings that it could be celac or ibs but the doctor says shes pretty sure it isnt celiac when all she did was a blood test.Did any of this happen to you guys ?Im getting the hint from my doc that its in my head but its not , I really think its celiac plz reply

Im sorry your feeling so bad. My daughter is 5 and she had all the symptoms you have. If you where gluten free for the blood test it will come out negative you need to be on gluten when you do the blood test. Ronni was on gluten when she had her blood work done it came back positive and so did her biopsy. I hope you start feeling better. Talk with your mom there are other test you can do to find out for sure.

Hillary, quick question....

You had your daughter biopsied right? Were you happy you did that? Would you change that decision at all?...my 2 year old boys tested positive from the blood work and I do not want to have the biopsies done. I also tested positive from the blood work, and chose not to have the biopsy done. My symptoms have improved since going gluten-free and so I don't see how the treatment would change in any WAY HAVING THE BIOPSY DONE. Either way, even if the biopsy came back negative for some reason, the blood tests would indicate a gluten sensitivity and would be treated the same way. Anyway, just curious your opinion.

The symptoms you mentioned do sound like Celiac/gluten sensitivity. Even though your doctor did the blood work to check for Celiac and it came back negative does not mean much. The way my doctor explained it (after a long battle with him) is sometimes it takes a while for it to show up in the blood or for the damage to show in your small intestines.

I was told for over a year that I had IBS, went through multiple test procedures, blood test and doctors visits but I knew there was something more to it. Trust your instincts and listen to what your body is telling you.

Are you currently gluten-free? If so for how long and have you seen an improvement with the abdominal pain, nausea, etc? If you have improved on the gluten-free diet chances are you have Celiac/gluten sensitivity and should stay gluten-free for life, not unless you want a doctors diagnosis then you would need to remain on gluten for the test to be accurate. There is another option I am sure you have read about here, it is Open Original Shared Link. The perform a stool panel test which is more sensitive than blood and more accurate!

Hey jhmom ive been going to the doctors sence jan but its been going on way longer . A previous doctor even tried to diagonse me with an eating disorder which I know I dont have .The doctor I need will take up too 2 years to get into crazy huh.so i cant get the light or camera down my throat till than .

Well I just came back from the dietishion yesterday and I started the diet yesterday so I cant really tell anything so far.But as for today I tried all gluten-free foods and I felt fine so im gonna going to the grocery store and find some gluten-free free stuff.I hope it works .Im pretty close to going in the hospital caz I wasnt eating I would only eat like 1 -2 meals a day caz I was scared but im trying so .How long did it take for u to notice a difference ?where u vomiting too ?

I noticed a diference after three days but, watch what you eat stay away from junk food never touch it.. Just have your regular foods every day..

gluten-free cereals or waffles gluten-free

bananas especially (all friuts)

veggies fresh or canned, read the labels

dried raisins

juice pure 100% apple orange grape..

milk, cheese one yogurt maybe some ice cream from safe sources

meats, fish, eggs, peanut butter, some gluten-free bread or rice cakes or corn cakes..

check and, double check the sources..everything I mentioned is pretty safe to start you off..keep it simple as your body wants it very simple and, nutritional as well..maintain it for life and, slowly but, surely introduce new foods..make sure they are safe..but, keep it simple for six months..

I was scared to eat before my diagnosis and that is why I lost 40lbs in 2 months! I never vomited but felt nauseas all the time! After going gluten-free I could tell a difference within a couple of days. The first thing I noticed was the abdominal pain was gone.

Stick to the basics, fresh meat, veggies, and anything you know is gluten-free. I am still not sure about the fruit, maybe apples and banana's would be safe.

I do hope you begin to feel better soon!

wow thats alot .Thanks I will stick to the basics.Its gonna take awhile to get the test done tho so im really hoping this will work.If it works im gonna stay on it even if i dont have celiac because i know its something to do with food .Its just confusing when one doc tells me one thing and the other tells me the complete opposite.

Hey I can't belive it the diet is working .Ive been on it for a liitle over than a week and im noticing improvement .I can't remember the last time I felt good it must of been over a year .Ive been sticking to like chicken like meat and fruits so far and im doing pretty good im even cheering up and geting out of my bad mood phase the only thing that makes me mad is my dad things the diet is no good i dont know how to convince him cause everyne else is noticing a difference

      oh that's interesting... it's hard to say for sure but it has *seemed* like oats might be causing me some vague issues in the past few months. It's odd that I never really connect specific symptoms to foods, it's more of an all over feeling of unwellness after  eating them.  If it happens a few times after eating the same foods- I cut back or avoid them. for this reason I avoid dairy and eggs.  So far this has worked well for me.  oh, I have some of Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty Hot cereal and I love it! it's hard to find but I will be looking for more.  for the next few weeks I'm going to be concentrating on whole fresh fruits and veggies and beans and nuts and seeds. I'll have to find out if grains are truly necessary in our diet. I buy brown rice pasta but only eat that maybe once a month at most. Never liked quinoa. And all the other exotic sounding grains seem to be time consuming to prepare. Something to look at later. I love beans and to me they provide the heft and calories that make me feel full for a lot longer than a big bowl of broccoli or other veggies. I can't even tolerate the plant milks right now.  I have reached out to the endo for guidance regarding calcium intake - she wants me to consume 1000mgs from food daily and I'm not able to get to more than 600mgs right now.  not supposed to use a supplement until after my next round of testing for hyperparathyroidism.   thanks again- you seem to know quite a bit about celiac.

      Welcome to the celiac.com community, @SilkieFairy! You could also have NCGS (Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity) as opposed to celiac disease. They share many of the same symptoms, especially the GI ones. There is no test for NCGS. Celiac disease must first be ruled out.
