2 Months Of Symptoms, Negative Test?

Hello everyone,

My name is Jen and I am a newbie to this forum. I have a question. I have been having celiac symptoms for over 2 months, probably closer to 3 months now. My Dr. did some bloodwork and apparently everything came back normal.

My question is, can those tests come back negative if my symptoms have only been going on for a couple months?

Thanks, Jen.

Yes it can come back negitive. Not everyone come back positive on the blood test becausethere are lot of false negetives. Some people only have positives on blood or positive on the endoscope but not both. Some people have intolercent to gluten to so that might be the problem. Did your doctor do the full celiac panel cause some don't do the full panel.

Jen, why don't you go to your doctor's office and get a copy of your blood lab reports and post the results and ranges here for us. Sometimes the doctors do not always run all the tests they should and sometimes you can be slightly positive and they will flat out calll it negative.

And yes, sometimes all the tests can be done correctly and they are still negative. If you have only been symptomatic for two months you may not yet have enough antibodies in your blood stream to be read as positive (every lab has a scale from which they read). A negative result does not mean gluten isn't a problem for you; it just means you have not passed the celiac test. You may have to do some more studying

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the forum. Ask any questions that pop into your head.

Thank you that’s really helpful, hopeful won’t have to have a biopsy.

That means the normal range (i.e. not celiac disease) would be a result less than 14.99.  Your result is WAY above that. Some gastroenterologists would diagnose that as celiac disease even without a confirming biopsy because it is more than ten times the top of the normal range.

Hi everyone. Back in 2022 I had blood work drawn for iga ext gliadin. Since then I’ve developed worse stomach issues and all other health issues. My doctor just said cut out gluten. He did no further testing. Please see my test results attached. I just need some direction cause I feel so ill and the stomach pain is becoming worse. Can this test show indications for other gastrointestinal diseases?

Thank you. These were the results TTG ABS NUMERICAL: > 250.0 U/mL [< 14.99]  Really don’t understand the results!

Clearly from what you've said the info on Dailymed is much more up to date than the other site, which hasn't been updated since 2017. The fact that some companies might be repackaging drugs does not mean the info on the ingredients is not correct.
