Has anyone found an Oreo like gluten-free cookie. I started doing some looking and found a number of wheat free ones, but non that say gluten-free.

Odd, mi-del cookies, have the ingredients here

But they just say wheat free, I can't seem to see an ingredient that is bad, ok maybe the natural flavoring...

Ah, I should have looked first. Just noticed Glutano has some.

Dang I really like alot of Glutano products. Wish they would carry them at a store around here.

When I called MiDel, they said they ARE gluten free, the Wheat Free label was just a "marketing decision" (which sux) but we do still buy them and have had no problems with them.

I didn't like the Glutino ones... they were way too sweet.

The Glutano ones taste much better to me if they're refrigerated first.

Arg.. ok, so I cannot find the mi-del "oreo" like cookies here at all. Cruddy. I went to 4 different grocery store chains here, all 4 of them carry pretty much every Mi-Del cookie, except the Oreo like ones. Well, I guess I will order some online...

My kids like the Glutano Chocolate O's better than the Mi-Del. Funny, but we thought the Mi-Del ones tasted too sweet! The Glutano ones have a very soft filling, and if you plan to crush them into cookie crumbs, then it is best to remove the filling or it turns the crumbs to mush. But they taste good.

We can't get either one locally either. We buy online (mostly from Gluten Solutions).

Have you tried the Glutino Zebra Dreams? They are a chocolate cookie with vanilla cream filling and although they don't look much like an oreo (they are rectangles) they taste better than either of these other "O" cookies.

God bless,

Mariann

Oats naturally contain a protein called avenin, which is similar to the gluten proteins found in wheat, barley, and rye. While avenin is generally considered safe for most people with celiac disease, some individuals, around 5-10% of celiacs, may also have sensitivity to avenin, leading to symptoms similar to gluten exposure. You may fall into this category, and eliminating them is the best way to figure this out. Some people substitute gluten-free quinoa flakes for oats if they want a hot cereal substitute. If you are interested in summaries of scientific publications on the topic of oats and celiac disease, we have an entire category dedicated to it which is here: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/oats-and-celiac-disease-are-they-gluten-free/
