Hi, I got my biopsy results 3 weeks ago and immidiatly went gluten free, at first I felt amazing, but after 2 weeks I started to feel awful again. When I went back to the doc he suggested taking dairy out. I am finding that since cutting out dairy I am more bloated and have more cramps than before I started any of the new diet. Is this normal?

I was diagnosed in February and went gluten free and at first felt a lot better but then symptoms returned. I tried taking out dairy too and still had problems. I learned it could also be soy so I am taking out that now. It is not uncommon to have other food intolerances with celiac. It is pretty much a trial and error trying too take out different foods. Did you cut all dairy or just lactose because caesin can also be a problem.

Dairy is a possibility, or ot could be withdrawal from gluten and dairy. Most likely though you are either a) getting cross contaminated with small amounts of gluten, which you are now reacting too since you have gone gluten free (very common to developed increased sensitivity once you take gluten off the menu, has to do with the immune system recovering strength) or

B) you are sensitive to dairy, but have only cut out dairy products. Casein, milk protein, is even more prolific in foods than gluten, and if you are sensitive to it you could be experiencing discomfort because you are still ingesting milk, just not in the form of dairy products.

If you can completetly eliminate the above possibilities, and the problem continues for another month, then you should start looking at other food sensitivities. But since you are newly gluten-free, and only beginning to heal, I suspect that is not the issue.

My bloating hasn't gone away yet. It's not dairy, it's not soy. It's just not gone away yet, though it has gotten considerably smaller! So maybe your body is just different??

But if it is casein itself, only a trial will find that out!

Are you substituting gluten-free baked goods for those with gluten? If you are eating a lot of bread products you might be sensitive to the gums they use. Some people find they cannot tolerate xanthan gum or guar gum, and have reactions similar to being glutened.

Actually the gums are uses in a lot more than just baked goods, they are in lots of frozen foods (including ice creams), beverages, and sauces.

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
