Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone knows if Food Club Brand (Food City) Corn Flakes are gluten-free? The ingredients like malt and I wasn't sure if it came from corn or barley?

Most of the time malt is from barley so it would not be safe.

Thanks Katie,

That's what I was thinking. I have two "extend" family members with celiac disease that say it's OK and they gave my dd some tonight and then she started flipping out! They also use gluten make-up and lick stamps and envelopes!! :rolleyes:

Do you get sick from touching something like an envelope with gluten even if you wash you hands immediately? Seems like we're getting really sensitive..... :P

I use gluten free products(makeup, shampoos, soaps) and all that kind of stuff.

For just touching something and then immediately washing my hands after- that is fine but I don't even like that so if I can avoid it I will but if not I am just super careful.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I called on the Food Club Corn Flakes just to make sure and they do contain gluten!! :)

      Welcome to the forum, @yellowstone! The most common ones seem to be dairy (casein), oats, eggs, soy and corn. "Formed" meat products (because of the "meat glue" used to hold their shape) is a problem for some. But it can be almost anything on an individual basis as your sensitivity to rice proves, since rice is uncommonly a "cross reactor" for celiacs. Some celiacs seem to not do well with any cereal grains.

      What foods can trigger a response in people with gluten sensitivity? I've read that there are foods that, although they don't contain gluten, can cause problems for people with gluten sensitivity because they contain proteins similar to gluten that trigger a response in the body. I've seen that other cereals are included: corn, rice... also chicken, casein. I would like to know what other foods can cause this reaction, and if you have more information on the subject, I would like to know about it. Right now, I react very badly to rice and corn. Thank you.

      Shingles is dormant and related to chicken pox when one has had in the past.Shingles comes out when stress is heightened.I had my 3rd Shingles in 2023.
