Target-Archer Farms Nuts

Hi,

Has anyone with celiac reacted to any of the archer farm nuts? I seem to react to the raw almonds inspite of the fact it says the allergens are other nuts and nothing about being on the same line as wheat. I ate some the other day and I had severe brain fog for hours. Sometimes I get cramps or other symptoms. Where can I get safe nuts that are gluten free and not terribly expensive? Thanks much.

Try the nuts online store.

You also may be reacting to "other" nuts that come in contact with the almonds. It is hard to sort out the reactions, sometimes. I was really bummed last year, when the local farmer's market type store, which sold bulk almonds by the pound prepacked in large, economic bags, changed their packaging to the dreaded "packed in a facility with..." and sure enough, I started reacting. I found another supermarket chain here that sells packages with just other nuts being on the "packed on shared lines with...." that I am okay with. One of the most exasperating things about the local Whole Foods down in the city is that all of their nuts in any sort of package have the dreadful "shared line with warning...." I really do not understand why they can't at least give us plain, un-crosscontaminated almonds which haven't been run thru a wheat line, as so many people use them in place of wheat if they are not good with the high glycemic index gluten free flours, or if they are eating SCD or paleo or whatever. I live in an area where there are a LOT of almond orchards just a few miles away, and find this need to run the nuts thru wheat detritus on their way into the plastic bag, when the wheat is grown no where near here, so it must be just seasonings, ridiculous.

I completely agree and am baffled by this as well. I had a bag of walnuts from pre gluten-free shopping, and went to open it yesterday to use, it listed wheat in the ingredients. what? that is just crazy.

When my wife attempted to open the online card in the store with a cashier, it would not work. We then showed the owner the link to the card, the online receipt that I got upon purchase, and even my bank statement confirming the purchase. That did not satisfy her, since she said she needed the link to open to reveal the gift ID num. They even admitted they had a systems problem around that time.

Was the card itself lost or just the record or both?

We were flabergasted that the owner would not acknowledge a $50 e-gift card I purchased for my celiac wife. My wife tried to open it in the store and was informed there had been a system change and they could not find the record. No worries, she was told, just talk to management. Six months later, and numerous absurd back and forths, and the owner literally informs me there have been "bad actors", so she can't make good on this lost gift card. In other words, she accused me of lying and committing fraud... over $50! Please be careful with your orders and purchases here.

Yes, some people do get withdrawal from gluten but gluten withdrawal doesn't usually cause gut pain. Maybe more like general body aches and discomfort. We have articles on gluten withdrawal on this forum. You might do a search for them. Applesauce is very acidic and some brands have added vitamin C (ascorbic acid) which makes them more acidic. This can damage the stomach lining if you eat it too often. Especially if your stomach lining is already compromised. Ibuprofen inhibits the body's ability to rebuild the stomach's protective mucosal lining. That's why it can cause peptic ulcers. As strange as it may sound, low level irritation/inflammation stimulates the body to rebuild the stomach lining. There are two steps in this rebuilding process known as COX 1 and COX 2. Ibuprofen represses both COX 1 and COX 2. Celecoxcib, a prescription anti inflammatory, inhibits only COX 2, making it less likely to cause damage to the gut lining.

Do you or anyone know alot about ibuprofen  I wasn't sure if I was eating too much apple sauce.   Something is making my pain so much worse  I'm referring to the intense pins and needles in my feet and lower legs.  Jaw actually has tardive dystonia and muscle spasms throughout my back Almost like an opposite effect that a pain reliever would do. I'm fairly new to this. Whatever is going on seems to be worsening  Do people get a withdrawal effect from gluten?  It's extremely painful 😖  I'll post that question or research on the site  Thank you everyone for responding
