  1. Hi. Did I see somewhere on here that we must not use wooden cutting boards? If so, is it because of possible glue or simply they're hard to clean? Is plastic the way to go? Thanks for your help. lisa
  2. Hi. Can anyone help me with this? I've read a lot on here about people having the onset of a gluten reaction up to a week or so after ingesting gluten. First, I'd like to know how you are SURE what did it, and, second, I'd like to understand how that is possible? I can sort of wrap my mind around the notion given that it's an immune response, but then...
  3. Could you tell me where you find "Utz" chips? I'm on the East Coast. Thanks! lisa
  4. Lancome has a line called Rouge Absolu which is gluten-free. It's $20-SO, pricey. But it lasts and is very nice. lisa
  5. I did much research and, although it is pricey, Lancome has a line that is gluten-free and I've been using it for 2 months very happily. Their line is "Rouge Absolu" and it wears very well. It is, I think, about $20. (Yikes!) Also, Burt's Bees makes a lipstick but it was too pepperminty for me and doesn't wear well. Good luck! lisa
  6. I had positive bloodwork with a negative biopsy as well. I had been gluten-free for almost 5 months pre biopsy. NOTHING had helped me with multitudinous symptoms, some which made me think my insides were dying, until I cut out ALL gluten. Still having ups and downs but much better overall. Also still finding hidden gluten! I also am at least temporarily...
  7. Pinkpei77/colleen? I'm from Maine but was born in Vermont. (Bellows Falls) Lived across border in Walpole, NH for 10 years before we moved to Maine. My three favorite places are Maine, Vermont and Quebec! But Burlington and Montreal are right up there, too! lisa
  8. Hi, Laurie- I, too, am new. Happy you're on here. Vincent, what a treat! An irreverant sense of humor, something I love. (Special Ed for the Emotionally and Behaviorily Disturbed helps hone irreverance and a love for the unorthodox) Take care! lisa
  9. Thank you all for your replies; the info on the natural thinners is very valuable. Thanks, again! lisa
  10. Carrie, My sister, who has no gastrointestinal symptoms and is not gluten intolerant as far as she knows, has had several times in her life when she has had the throat closing, puffed-up face, scary symptoms of an allergic reaction after eating a bunch of very different foods at the same time. "Specialty foods", I guess you'd say. She could never figure...
  11. Patti, Thank you SO much- I'm going to get some, just in case! Take care. lisa
  12. Carrie, I have had that "throat closing over" feeling, relieved by Benadryl several times. VERY disconcerting. Allergy testing revealed nothing, but I had two nut flour muffins the last time it happened. Very leery of nuts now. Had testing for tree nuts which came back negative but it was weeks after the reaction. Don't know if this helps. Feel better...
  13. Hi ! Does anyone know FOR SURE if Natural "Sunbutter" from SunGold Foods is gluten-free? It's ground sunflower seeds and it's really yummy, but it's on my list of "suspects" after getting glutened last week. Any help is much appreciated! lisa
  14. Patti, Thank you! Do you know if the active ingredient of Bufferin is the same as aspirin? (I'm pulling a blank as to aspirin's working ingredient.) Thankyou. lisa
  15. Hi! Does anyone have any info on an aspirin that does not have gluten? I have a history in my family of deep vein blodclots (a HUGE history) and I always carry aspirin with me just in case I get the symptoms. (It can be life-threatening.) Well, last night I went out with my best friend and sat at dinner in a very high chair with my legs crossed for about...
  16. Hi, Shannon. I am sorry for your loss and that you've been having such a hard time. I, too, cannot tolerate any legumes and have NEVER been able to- they just don't digest! So I just never eat them. It's interesting that Ursula mentions maybe people can tolerate one or two- I've never considered that. All beans just seem to bother me, but I do love them...
  17. Christian, I am officially about 4 months gluten-free, (MOSTLY gluten-free two months before that), and still swing with all the symptoms. For me those are primarily gastrointestinal. Like you, I am fierce about the diet and have been very frustrated at feeling "glutened" quite a number of times. It does seem like I also became sensitive to many other...
  18. Carla' I thought I remembered you posting that at some point. Although I wish none of us had any of this gluten issue, I am relieved to know I'm not just crazy when it seems like I'm reacting to almost NO gluten!!! Thank you for your thoughts. Take good care. lisa
  19. Thanks, Andrea. Hope you and yours are doing well! lisa
  20. Berneses- Sorry! And hope you're feeling MUCH better soon! lisa
  21. Miles2go, Hi!!! I just saw your post-thank you. I graduated from UMO in 1980! I love Orono! Nice to hear from another Mainer! What a great state we have, eh? Take good care. lisa
  22. Hi, All, Just thought I'd post my Enterolab results: Do not have the 2 major celiac genes-Yay! However, have two genes for gluten sensitivity and Iga showing ongoing gluten reactivity. They say I need to be gluten-free for life. (No real desires to feel that pain again) I guess they say because I received one of these from my Mom and one from my Dad...
  23. Leah, I'm going to try that cider syrup- Yum! lisa
  24. Carla and all, Thank you again for your posts. I did just get the Enterolab results and while I don't have the two celiac genes- Yay!- I have two genes predisposing to gluten sensitivity and apparently the Antigliadin shows I'm still reacting to gluten as of two weeks ago! So I guess I haven't found all the places it's hiding. They say because I got one...
  25. Thanks, Carla- I know from reading this board that all of you seem to have ups and downs- I guess it's the going right back to the beginning that scares me. AND when I can't be sure of the source. I knew the basalmic was iffy and my sister had it in a container, not the original jar, so... I'm trying not to get depressed again. Thank you for your encouragment...
