  1. Kabowman Yikes! It looks like maybe there's no such thing! I have a nasty throat infection- weird, in the summer? I can't tolerate HFCS or corn syrup. Shoot, I wish someone knew something. lisa Or even a recipe?
  2. Just another voice: Trust yourself. I had positive bloodwork, negative biopsy. Enterolab says positive for gluten intolerance genes. I, too, could not manage putting the gluten back in for the biopsy-too painful, too sick. Whatever you want to name it, you know gluten is not good for you. Feel better. lisa Oh yes, and doctors have thrown the...
  3. Hi! Help!!! I need a cough drop or hard candy (for sore throat) that is gluten, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup, soy and dairy free! Try to find this! I can't! Just pure cane sugar with ...something? Please help if you can. Thank you, lisa
  4. Bully4you I'm rushing- thank you! lisa
  5. I don't have anything brilliant to say. I am so sorry you have all this. I took Flagyl when pregnant for my daughter and know it is a powerful drug. (And I only took it as a last resort.) Also, what I read about C-Diff tells of a formidable foe. At this point, would you consider acupuncture? I think your immune system could use the boost. Western medicine...
  6. Lorka Thank you. I was using the Lubriderm as a sunscreen but I think I read on here that Banana Boat is gluten-free so maybe I'll try that. I like Burt's Bees, so I'll get some hand cream. Thank you! lisa
  7. If you'd like to try this, it's delicious. The only bad thing might be that it's not enriched with vitamins as commercial rice milk is. But it's easy- I make it ahead for the week. RICE MILK 4 cups hot/warm water 1 cup cooked rice (I use white; you can use brown) 1 tsp vanilla (also make my own vanilla by putting three vanilla beans in brandy...
  8. Fiddle-Faddle Remember to be religious about keeping it on and sprinkle some salt on the salt pork, too, each time you change it. Good luck! lisa
  9. I've used acupuncture since I had a case of pneumonia several years ago that would NOT heal! I gave up on Western medicine and all the antibiotics and went to see my acupunturist who I then saw routinely once every two weeks for over a year. She cured me- well, we did it together. I am a huge believer. I see her now to help me with my GI issues and I...
  10. Well, actually, folk remedies can seem strange to us who are bombarded with industrialized medical concepts, but they actually make a lot of sense. The salt pork is so rich in salt and it's the salt that is drawing out the offending thing. The sliver of pork is easy to keep in place. Now it is true that warts are caused by a virus, so they may return,...
  11. Thank you, Lorka. It's hard to trust anything you don't make yourself, eh? Gggrrrr... lisa
  12. olalisa If you're interested, I have a recipe for your own rice milk that's very easy. I make mine because I couldn't find one that's gluten AND soy free. I actually found it on the net. lisa
  13. O+- The blood-type diet does make sense for me.
  14. I had a similar story- 4 months gluten-free before biopsy and it was negative. But I had a positive tTg test before that. I did a VERY brief gluten challenge before the biopsy (three days) and almost went to the hospital the pain was so bad! Then I tested through Enterolab to find I have two genes for gluten intolerance. That's all I needed to know to...
  15. I have this. The Vicks Vaporub works. Soaking in Epsom salts as well. I would trust soaking in olive oil, too, or adding more to your diet. P.S. Women don't need to buy into all the perfection ---- that's infused in our culture. We can think and decide for ourselves. If our partners don't promote this; move on. We are a sad race. lisa
  16. I grew up having plantar's warts and the tried and true method of my French mother and grandmother is to take a sliver of salt pork, salt it some more and band-aid it firmly to the wart. Keep changing it after shower and all, but keep applying for three to five days and I GUARANTEE it will pull those warts right outta there and heal beautifully and fast...
  17. Yes, Bayer made me nervous as well. I will get the St. Joseph's brand, thank you. Still struggling with symptoms today. Maybe this is delayed from the aspirin. I am pretty fanatical about what I eat- the only processed food is Erewhon"s Rice Krispies, (supposedly gluten-free), some sugar (white and/or Turbanot) and Lundbergh rice cakes! I'm still wracking...
  18. Geez, I'm on a roll today trying to find culprits to this hideous feeling! Is Lubriderm gluten-free? I thought it was but now am unsure. Maybe we're just all supposed to buy nothing and use nothing and eat only things we swat or find on trees! I'm losing it!!!!! And I feel the planet is losing it as well! Since I think we're kind of a big detriment...
  19. Thank you, Lucy- the same thoughts to you! I just reread your posts and I have to say, between 4 and 6 AM is my best sleeping time as well! lisa
  20. Thank you all. I LOVED Cape Cod and had no gluten issues but I realized they have corn oil and I'm not eating corn. I wish there were some with sunflower oil. I miss my chips! lisa
  21. I wake up all night from back pain and stomach rumbling or distension. It is considerably better since I've gone gluten-free, though not perfect. The back pain I would describe as extremely intense. I, too, had difficult pregnancies, many issues. And I do know about intense pain -gave birth naturally to 10 pound son! I think you should continue to read...
  22. Thank you! I thought I had read threads where people talked about delayed reaction. If that is the case, it could be the Bayer aspirin or another I took (local brand) that I could only find info on from 3 years ago. It's so incredibly frustrating that it is so difficult to locate the culprit with this condition! Sometimes I just think it isn't gluten...
  23. Thank you all for your replies; maybe it was that people said the symptoms lasted a week. I just can't figure out what I just had and had been feeling so much better for about a week and now I am reacting horribly to something- bad abdominal pain and bloat, distension. I'm hoping it will go away soon! lisa
  24. Rinne Thank you; yes, I know that about wood being better and I prefer it. I did just get a new one made of bamboo (it's strips) so I just realized that I wonder how they put it together. Thanks for the help. lisa
