  1. What are yeast flakes? I posted this before, but I forgot where I posted it and don't know if anyone answered. Can you use regular yeast "pellets" in the jar?
  2. I'm actually curious about this as well. I'm still in the process of determining whether or not gluten is my issue (awaiting EnteroLab results) but I know that celiac can trigger neurological problems in some, and all 3 of my boys have neurological differences. My oldest and middle child have had constipation/diarrhea issues, which I had at the time thought...
  3. Oh, how JEALOUS I am at the relief you must feel!!! I have been looking for answers and finding none for so long....I can only dream of that feeling. Good luck to you, and I hope your symptoms continue to improve.
  4. It's my understanding that it's the milk protein that is the source of the intolerance. I consider myself casein intolerant, and I stay away from ALL PARTS of milk, whatever they call it.
  5. She said they inadvertently put them in there, but they'd be happy to run the genetic testing if I wanted them to. I was kinda hoping they'd do it for free since it was their mistake to put them in there, but that was wishful thinking. It wasn't like the inadvertently RAN the test. Anyway, they're going to do the gene test, and bill me on...
  6. Yeah, that was my thinking. It's odd enough to have problems at this age, odder still when there's no family history. That's why I think its worth getting the bone scan. Thanks!
  7. Salad bar!? I never trust food out in the open like that. Any spoon from any other food could have been put in there, and you'd have no way of knowing. I stay FAAARRRR away from salad bars!
  8. Someone very nice posted some recipes for cashew cheese stuff (sooooo sorry I'm blanking on your name!!) and now I can't find the recipes! I printed them out, went to the store and bought the ingredients for one of the recipes...and left the recipes in the cart! Anyway, I'll find the recipes eventually, but one of the ingredients was listed as "yeast...
  9. Interesting points...thanks for the replies! What makes this all the more odd is that there is NO early osteoperosis in my family. My grandmother had it, but she was well into her 80s and a chain smoker for years before she got it. Well, my fibro friend just told me last night that the rheumy I'm going to on Monday (also her rheumy) can order a bone...
  10. I'm "sort of" doing this. Because I'm just not sure what's still making me feel crappy, I'm eating mostly fruits and veggies, with pasta and cooked meet occasionally. Oh, and some minimally processed breakfast cereal most mornings. I'm not very religious about it, though. I'm mostly staying away from highly processed foods or foods with any artificial...
  11. Well, looking back I had problems early on. I had diarrhea so bad when I was 3 that I had to be hospitalized for dehydration. Then I had some kind of allergy issue (my mom doesn't remember the specifics) but I was taken off milk for several months and had to sleep with a down pillow. Throughout my early teens, I didn't have gastric symptoms but I did...
  12. I'll have to try that with another kind of milk, as I think the soy milk was making me sick. Thanks, anyway!
  13. Oh, YUM! Thanks, Andrea! Any ideas for an alfredo type sauce? American cheese (slices for sandwiches)? I can look for your answer in the recipes section so as not to further hijack this thread.
  14. I would love to see those recipes myself!
  15. I personally would love to have more information about cosmetics/hygeine products. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I have been searching for what is and is not an ok ingredient for WEEKS to no avail. And, of course, WELCOME, AMY!!! This place has been a haven for me since going gluten-free. I hope you find that it's the same for you.
  16. I don't like that answer! Try googling the med and see if any articles come up about the FDA eval, if there are any issues with it.
  17. As for me, I get bloated and gassy, and have diarrhea if I consume milk. It's fairly immediate for me, though, as is the recovery. My first reaction is within a couple of hours, with the D lasting up to a day. And then I'm good. Oh, and the gas I get from milk is S T I N K Y!!!!
  18. My mother seemed to think there was a link between osteoperosis and osteoarthritis, which I guess I failed to mention. Given, my mother is not a medical expert by any means! LOL Anyway, is it true that there is a link between osteoperosis and arthrits?
  19. Ever since I told my mother I had arthritis in my foot she's been pushing me to get a bone scan. I'm only 33, and even my dr remarked that it was odd that I should have osteoarthritis at this age without a previous injury. What do you think?
  20. No, I did the one that cost $249, plus the soy/egg/yeast for $199. That was about all I could handle this time around! LOL I did do the swab samples, though. So, they have them if they feel like giving me the gene test for free. Depending on what shows up, or maybe I'll do it anyway, I want send in my son's samples. For that I'll just get the...
  21. Mine actually has rice maltodextrin in it as well. Don't think I'm sensitive to rice, so I'm sticking with it.
  22. I'm running out of things to eat too, but unfortunately I'm not losing any weight...and I NEED to lose a little weight! I recently cut out anything processed or artificial. No more artificial sweeteners for me, no hydrogenated or hydrolyzed anything....just pure, whole food. Yum.
  23. Milk and milk products give me horrible gas. It may be worth cutting out milk for a while to see if that helps.
  24. Or at least, what I PAID for, eh? Either way, I guess I'll know in 3 weeks. So, does it really take 3 weeks, or have others had to wait longer for results?
  25. Hmmm....any chance they'll give me the gene test for free, since they have my samples???
