  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hey Jerry, When running becomes painful, switch to swimming. You get the same gret effects, but its easy on the joints. Plus, you never get too old for it. My dad is in his 60's and is training for a 4.4 mile open water swim. It's also great for those of us who don't want to have two black eyes just from going for a run (if you know what I mean...
  3. I use Blistex. I don't go a day without using it. Much prefer it over chapstick. And yes, as of the last time I checked, it is gluten-free. Plus, I have never had a problem with it. Sooo....just in case it wasn't obvious...I love, love, love, my blistex.
  4. Thanks so much for everyone's input. I will give the veggie slices a try. And I will be sure to post if I find the "perfect" cheese substitute. KAte
  5. I am looking for a good cheese substitute for sandwiches and stuff. Has anyone tried the veggie slices or rice slices. do they really taste like cheese? I don't want to go out and buy a substitute only to get home and find that it tastes like cardboard? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Kate
  6. I don't know about everyone else, but I do worry about kissing those that eat gluten. I have been known to be so strict about others lips touching mine, that my husband started comlaining a lot (he wasn't getting his daily alottment of kisses ) . I have toned it down some, but yes, it is something I really am careful with. Usually if it has been a few...
  7. I get Newsweek, but this "My Turn" is only online. Don't buy the magazine only for this article, it isn't there. I am happy thought to see more news outlets paying attention to the subject of gluten and celiac.
  8. A few more ideas: Meat and cheese roll ups Canned tuna with some mayo and red/yellow/etc pepper strips. dip the pepper strips in the tuna instead of crackers. Really yummy and low carb. Also really filling. Breakfast: you can make egg "muffins". Take some chopped mushrooms, crumbled bacon, chopped onion, chopped black olives, chopped pepers etc...
  9. Hey, it does get better. And there will certainly be days where you're going to feel down in the dumps. But then there are going to be days when you find something gluten free that you didn't know whas (cheese balls for me) and you get really excited (I was jumping up and down in the store, totally embarassed my hubby) and happy. Anyway, FYI Wegman...
  10. Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Valentine's day! Afterall, this day is not just about romantic love, but also the love we all have for our family and friends. So on this day I wanted to say thanks for all the support, and help and advice that everyone has shared. You all have really helped put things in perspective, revamp my shopping cart, and make...
  11. Karen, Hang in there! I don't have any knowledge of colonoscopy results, but I am sending positive thoughts your way. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Kate
  12. I did the survey as well. I think the more labeling the better. My eyesight is bad as it is sooo, the less I have to read the fine print ingredients, the better. As long as the food really is gluten-free and doesn't have 19.99999 (infiniti) ppm. I could completely see Co.s doing that. Oh well, Rome wasn't built in a day, labels won't be controversy free...
  13. I feel your pain! I also struggle with constipation. I have found that eating a salad every day helps a lot. It gets results (sometimes small, but they're results). I also find consistant exercise helps (I am still working on the consistant part). I also take citracel every night. Sometimes I feel like I'm 90, but hey, whatever it takes to feel better...
  14. Hang in there! As you get more comfortable with food labels, it will get easier. Also, I noticed that the less "contaminated" food that came into my house, the better I felt. As time goes on, you will become more familiar with your body's reactions to specific foods and you will learn what food combinations work for you. Your body is just working itself...
  15. Hello, It's been a while, but I just wanted to say hello and let anyone know who was wondering that my Dec. procedure went well. I went in on the 21st for a hysteroscopy and fractured D & C. They found 2 polyps, which were removed and I am feeling fine. Everything seems to be fine, I have a follow up appt next week. I just wanted to say thanks...
