  2. Valentines Day is almost here......just thought I would let you all know that Reddi-whip (whipped cream in a can) is gluten free. So you can run right out and get some to top your gluten-free dessert, OR to top your sweetie Happy V-Day!!! -Jessica
  3. Personally I work too hard at this lifestyle to ruin it with cheating. It isn't worth being sick. It isn't worth getting cancer, infertility, lupus, seizures, diabetes or any of the other ugly things that you can get by cheating!! It isn't even worth the simple bout of diarrhea or a headache. You can prevent those things by just NOT doing it!! Why why...
  4. Genisoy southern style chunky peanut butter fudge is gluten-free. They are pretty good. Enjoy! -Jessica
  5. Here is the letter that I use when I write to companies to find out the gluten status of things. I thought it might help some of the newbies out there who are just beginning their research. -Jessica The letter comes from this site: Open Original Shared Link Dear , I have celiac disease and am unable to eat foods with gluten...
  6. I eat reeses pieces all the time. I have never had any trouble with them, and I am very sensitive to any ingestion of gluten. Possibly your kiddo had a reaction to the dyes used in the coatings. I would re-read the label and see what ingredients are new to him within the product. Do some detective work and see what you come up with. Also along the lines...
  7. I have never heard of Donatos. Is this a chain? Where can you find them?? -Jessica
  8. You should never stop taking prescribed medication without first consulting your physician. NOT a group of people on a message board. PLEASE call your dr and set up an appointment. -Jessica
  9. You are very right, Joe C did have celiac disease. Here is a link about him: Open Original Shared Link -Jessica
  10. Gluten doesn't absorb from your skin into your intestines. The only way you would have problems is if you have DH, or if you get the lotion on your hands and then put your hands in your mouth etc. It is just best to stay away from it for those reasons. -Jessica
  11. Rich Gannon the football player has a daughter with Celiac. He does quite a few publicity things for the disease. You may have heard of Danielle's Decadent chocolate cake mix, it is named after his daughter. Also Elizabeth Hasselback, new co-host on "The View" talkshow and also a Survivor contestant is possibly a Celiac. She has mentioned several...

ALL comes from the file located at SillyYaks Yahoo group Gluten Free Guests Experiences from Disney (this info was found on the web) Restaurants At-a-Glance All...
  13. I would like to answer essay question number 4 please Your body goes into a survival mode. Seeing as your body isn't getting nutrients(due to the villi flattening) your body starts storing fat. Thus you become obese over time. This doesn't happen to every Celiac, but does to some. Hope that helps ya!! -Jessica
  14. Wow that is new!!! Thanks so much for being so helpful and pointing that out so kindly! -Jessica
  15. Wendy's doesn't exactly have a gluten free menu. It is just sort of known in the Celiac community that their chili and baked potato are gluten free. Of course they have salads (bring your own dressing). Some people say their fries are gluten free, however I don't eat them. I used to, until I found a chicken nugget at the bottom of my fry carton. So you might...
  16. I have noticed a lot of folks are posting the same information in different topics. (posting then cutting and pasting the info and posting it under a different topic). Doing this bogs the board down and makes it less effective. It defeats the purpose to have the information in 10 different places. Not to mention it is against the board rules. So please be...
  17. I believe that we definately NEED a grieving process. You have to mourn your past lifestyle so you can begin the new one. You will have days when you feel like crying when you see a piece of pizza or smell a doughnut. I still have those days when it is hard. I TOTALLY avoid the bakery section of the grocery store. I hate going into those isles and smelling...
  18. I am also extremely sensitive to gluten, and McCains's oats DO bother me terribly. I have the rumbley tummy and pain and diarrhea just shortly after eating them. So I think it's really a thing that you personally have to try for yourself to see if you have a reaction or not. Research lately has said that Oats are ok for SOME Celiacs. You have to see...
  19. Lee- I am in college also. I find that it really helps to listen to your body. When you get those tired feelings don't ignore them Take a nap!! It will only get worse if you don't. Eat good foods. Eat a good meal (not junk). Take a daily vitamin. Take some time out of your day to just chill and watch your favorite tv show or whatever. Give yourself...

    ARCHIVED Doctors

has anybody seen the commercial for that new drug Zelnorm. It is for women with IBS. It totally lists symptoms of celiac and then tells people to go get Zelnorm!! What a crock!! Just my opinion! -Jessica
  21. that reminds me of my quote that I put on the outside of my notbook that I made for all my celiac info. The quote says : "we can not change the direction of the wind.....but we can adjust our sails" meaning we can't change things that have already happened, we just have to adjust and keep going. -jessica
  22. If you are going to travel outside of the U.S. and want to pack gluten free food in your suitcase you MUST have a letter that states your diagnosis. Most of the time they won't let you take the food with you if you don't. Seeing as it is so hard to find food while traveling (different gluten-free standards in different countries) most folks like to pack...
  23. In the United States (not sure where you live) you may deduct the price difference between a normal product and a gluten free product. For example: if a normal loaf of bread was 1.50 and a gluten free loaf of bread is 5.00 you may deduct $3.50 on your taxes. However you MUST keep all reciepts for varification. As far as my sources...you can find them...
  24. I personally think the DeBoles are good. I like their sghetti. -Jessica
  25. There are several good reasons to be tested: *Accurate Family Medical History *To have a letter of diagnosis for travel outside of the U.S. *To have a letter of diagnosis for tax deductions on food products *Piece of mind Just a thought (not meaning to sway one way or another) I have noticed that many people who do go through...
