  1. Oh yeah. I go so far as to make sure that my 5 year old at school has her own gluten-free soap( that only she can use). I have also provided the school with her own gluten-free papertowels, napkins and paperplates! Oh and I checked to make sure that the bandaids that they have at school are gluten-free as she also breaks out in rashes from it at times. ...
  2. I highly suggest the genetic testing as well. Our insurance did not cover it, but some do. It cost us around $300. I think it is important to get an offical dignosis, that way if it is not Celiac, you can keep looking to figure out what is really causing the problems to occur.
  3. We are in Riverside County~ Temecula\French Valley/Murrietta/ Winchester area.
  4. Does anyone have the info. for the ROCK group for SO CAL? We just moved to CA. Thanks!
  5. Juliet, Do you know what flavor it was? If you could let me know, I will have the kids avoid it, just to be safe. Thanks!
  6. My DD does vomit, but only 2 or 3 times. My other DD does not.
  7. In our case, it was totally worth it! We were able to determine that our daughter that has heart problems is not a carrier. We were also able to find out that our son, who currently does not show any symptoms of celiac disease and his blood work came back- is a carrier. We now know that DH, myself, 2 of our DD and our son either have celiac disease or...
  8. Hi Ladies and Gents. I am making homemade chicken soup . I have cooked the chicken when I noticed in my lovely broth that the pad that soaks up the blood had been in the pot cooking with the chicken! Do you think that there is any harm in eating the soup? TIA~
  9. I am sorry that this is taking a long time for you and your son. Have you thought about getting the genetic cheek swab test? We did ours through Kimball genetics. It cost us around 300.00 and it let us know that our son that did not have any antibodies in his blood is a carrier for celiac disease. ( the company that we went through gives a small mulitple...
  10. SO my DD has her first trip to the dentist since we found out that she has celiac disease next week. I have already contacted the dental staff and informed them of how serious it is for her not to get gluten and to look into any product that will go into her mouth. From those with experience~ is there anything that you know of that does have gluten...
  11. Hi All. Thanks for replying. Sorry that it took me so long to get back here. We were on Vacation in WDW! : Yes, My oldest was born with an undigosed narrow arota(sp? it is late). We did not find out about it until she was 5 weeks old and her heart was the size of her chest. Her heart was functioning at 18%. She had surgery to correct the problem...
  12. Ok. I read somewhere that if you have one autoimmune disorder that there is a higher chance that you could get/have another one as well. Does anyone here have multiple autoimmune disorders? Should I have my kids tested for others as well? If so, which ones? Trust me, I do not want to find anything else wrong with my kiddos, I just want to...
  13. As a newbie I have found this site to be helpful as well. As for who eats toilet paper~ well, that would be my lovely 19 month old who got a roll from the storage area the other day and was stuffing it in her mouth and running away from me laughing. Very cute and funny~ but now I have to be more careful that she does not get glutenized from TP...
  14. Thanks ladies! I just left a message for our Dr, just in case he wanted to look into it further. I would rather play it on the safe side.
  15. Hi everyone! My 5 year old DD has been on a gluten-free Diet for 2 weeks now. Before she got dignosed she would complain of leg pain. As most of you know~ I thought it was just growing pains. My question is how long does it take for the pain in her legs to go away after being gluten-free? Does this pain signify that her bones are weaker and she should...
  16. We currently have 4 children. Out of the 4, two have been recently proven to have Celiac. My blood work came back-. My Dh will be doing his bloodwork soon. We have submitted our other 2 children for genetic testing to see if they are carriers.
  17. Yeah, I thought the numbers were high too. Jiselle really did not have any symptoms. I thought it was so strange that she had it. I thought for sure that my son would have it, but he came back less than 2. I thought for sure that I would have it as well, since I have been anemic my whole life and the fact that I was dignosed with IBS with D in my...
  18. OK. IgA testing scale that this lab(lab corp) used for both the girls tests are : IgA~ 0-3 = Negative 4-10= Weak Positive 10 and over = Positive Congrats to your DD on her birthday! Jiselle just turned 5 yesterday! Shaylin's bio. came back + for celiac disease yesterday. I am just so glad that we finally got an answer to...
  19. Hi there! I just got the numbers from the kids lab work. I was curious to see what others numbers were and how severe the celiac disease was when digosed. Shaylin (18 months) #169. She was severly sick. Jiselle (4 years) #216. No symptoms. Tested because of Shaylin.
  20. We just got the bio. done on our 18month old. She was so sick that I could not risk not having Celiac confirmed as the reason why she was so ill. (Her blood work came back at 165). She had no problems with the bio. at all. It was wonderful to have the paperwork that confirmed that it is Celiac and now we know for sure what the problem is and we do not...
  21. We could hardly believe that a loaf of gluten-free bread was $7. We have 6 people to feed and that is going to get $$. Do you still buy your gluten-free bread at the store, or have you been successful making gluten-free bread with a bread maker? If you make your bread, do you use the pre-mixes or do you make it from scratch? Thanks!
  22. Hi There! We recently found out that 2 of our children have Celiac. We are trying to be good and have a gluten-free household. Could you please give me a list of words of things that contain Gluten in them, but may not be obious to the newbie? For example, malt. I would have never guessed that.... Please add others... Thank you for your help~
  23. I was going to ask about the Velveeta. I *think* I read that it had maltodextrin in it and I thought that substance was a big no-no. If not, please let me know because I have a DD who LOVES Velveeta. Oh, BTW~ the Annie gluten-free mac and cheese is wonderful!!!!
