ARCHIVED Husband 10 Days Gluten Free...feeling Great!
pugluver31902 replied to carecare's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have simple taste and simple cooking skills. I really enjoy the cookbook "beyond ricecakes" that has great snack items, entree's, and desserts, that are so easy to make. In my opinion it also would cater to kid taste. So glad to hear that your husband is feeling better! -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Taken Provera For "female Issues"?
pugluver31902 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Im trying to remember exactly what side effects I had. Obviously it was nothing major bc I can't really remember anything standing out, and I only took it a few months ago. I think I had some bloating, a little trouble sleeping, and some headaches. But I got my period after I believe six or seven days so then I could stop taking it. I guess my "big" side... -

pugluver31902 replied to NancyHaas's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was nine weeks pregnant when I got glutened, and I came on here to find out the same thing. From what I found, everyone was fine. I was sure that I had just killed the baby. I was SO sick. Im now almost 15 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. Good luck! -
ARCHIVED Has Anyone Taken Provera For "female Issues"?
pugluver31902 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I took provera about seven months ago. I hadn't had a period in about five months. I just kept waiting and thinking that my period would come back when my body was ready, but it didnt. I looked at the side effects, freaked out, and didnt take it. Two months later, still no period. I went back to the doctor who ran soem tests and told me that my uterine lining... -
ARCHIVED Contamination
pugluver31902 replied to la2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
She could be worried about cross contamination on things. When you go gluten free, you usually throw out all your pots, and you have to get new things like cutting boards and wooden spoons bc they both absorb gluten. Celiac is not just "wheat." Wheat hides in everything from kethcup, sauces, package seasonings, ham, shredded cheese, and more. It may not be... -
ARCHIVED No External Symptoms - Only Biposy - Anyone Else
pugluver31902 replied to jumjum15's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have absolutly NO symptoms at all of my celiac except for postive bloodwork and a positive biopsy. I have been on a gluten free diet for over a year and now my bloodwork is negative (which is supposed to happen if you are gluten free). So yeah, it definitly can happen. I requested a copy of my bloodwork and biopsy results bc I simply could not believe it... -

I dont know about trix yogurt bc Ive never bought it, but I know the American cheese slices I buy are gluten free, and I get them at a regular grocery store. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
pugluver31902 replied to aeshlea's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Wendy's fries are not on the American list either bc every Wendy's does not have a dedicated fryer. You just have to ask each restraunt and see which ones do. -
ARCHIVED M&m's
pugluver31902 replied to loco-ladi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sorry, maybe I wasnt being clear in my other post. LAST YEAR I got a bag of Christmas m&m's that said may contain wheat on them. That is the ONLY time I have ever seen them say that, and the bag came inside of a novelty item, so it may have been made in another country or a different factory than normally used. Other than that ONE time, I have NEVER seen... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
pugluver31902 replied to aeshlea's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Fries are not listed on the US gluten free list either, bc all restraunts do not have dedicated fryers. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Flu Shot And Birthing Drugs?
pugluver31902 replied to missmommy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My doctor also told me that since I was pregnant I must get a flu shot. She said a high fever and some of the treatments would be worse for my baby. -
ARCHIVED Nonfood Items...why Worry?
pugluver31902 replied to carecare's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My doctor told me that my skin is my largest organ. The gluten may not make it into my gut, but it will definitly seep into my bloodstream. Personally, I feel that since gluten is poison to me, I would rather not smear it on my skin, the same way I would not smear something harmeful like bleach or lysol all over my skin. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
pugluver31902 replied to aeshlea's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Haha, I got that look at a couple of them too. But what are ya gonna do. Personally, I feel every restraunt poses some kind of "glutening" risk to me, but like I said, personally, I feel pretty safe at my Wendy's. So to sum it up, it never hurts to ask. If you get the deer in the headlights look, probably not the best idea to eat there. If they seem to know... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
pugluver31902 replied to aeshlea's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Oh Im not vouching for wendy's fryers or anything. Dont get me wrong. Im just saying some, SOME wendy's do have fryers that they are very careful of using as a dedicated fryer. I live by at least six Wendy's and there is only one I would eat the fries at. The employees seem very knowledgable about everything I have asked. I asked if they had a dedicated fryer... -

pugluver31902 replied to mmcdaniels's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Could just be one of those strange things. But even if you didnt eat the cone, if you ate any of the ice cream that was touching the cone that would have been cross contamination. Some people react to unseen amounts of wheat and gluten. For a celiac they say it only takes the equivalint of 1/16 of a grain of rice to cause digestive problems. Some people are... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
pugluver31902 replied to aeshlea's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Wendy's fries are gluten free IF they are cooked in a dedicated fryer. Some restraunts have them, some don't. But the fry is potatoe and they use vegetable oil. -

pugluver31902 replied to mmcdaniels's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ok, I think on that allergen chart, they are actually including the cone with the soft serve and it is labeled vanilla cone soft serve. BC if you look at the blizzards as long as the candy is wheat free, so is the blizzard. Plus, none of the sundae's which are made with the soft serve contain wheat. Try looking at this. Ok, so Im not crazy. I go to dairy queen all the time and get a soft serve vanilla blizzard. The guy is great with cross contamination and also makes sure to clean everything really well for me. Im A Symptomatic so I wouldnt know if I was getting glutened, but my husband gets really bad reactions to gluten and he has always been fine. I saw the previous post... -

ARCHIVED First Gfcf Christmas -- Gluteny Gifts
pugluver31902 replied to zarfkitty's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh I am so happy to find this thread! I run a before and after school daycare program, and the parents have been overly generous this year. But grrr... they keep getting me food and gift cards to places I cant go...but the BIGGEST thing that made me mad was my co worker who got a gift card to Chipolte, while I got a gift card to a gluten restraunt. He looks... -
ARCHIVED M&m's
pugluver31902 replied to loco-ladi's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I live in the Chicago suburbs, and last year I bought a bag of the Christmas M&Ms and wheat was listed on the ingrediants. I was totally shocked bc I had never seen that before. Maybe the holiday ones are made different? Im confused. -
ARCHIVED Acid Reflux Still A Problem
pugluver31902 replied to Darn210's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I wish you the best of luck. I would do really well for several months whenever my prevacid dosage was increased, and then my symptoms would break through. I wish I had some good advice, but Im at as much of a loss as you are. In my experiance, I have had great docs, but after they check all the usual stuff, they just throw their hands up in the air. Since... -

Taco bell even cooks there tortilla chips with the flour ones. Wendy's baked potato, chili, frosty, and fries if they have a dedicated fryer. Chipolte except for the flour tortilla, make sure they change thier gloves. Dairy queen has an online menu, but you have to ask them to clean the mixer. They are usually very accomodating. Chic-fil-a fries...
