Does anyone know of any Gluten Free cleanses on the market?
I have heard good things about "Wild Rose" brand cleanse, but not from anyone who has celiac.
I am feeling icky despite strict gluten-free diet and want to give a good inner cleanse a try.

holy cow. i think this is unbelievably terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hello all,
so the compny got back to me very quickly. how nice! however, as suspected:
"The Modified Food Starch in the Double X is derived from corn or wheat
starch, we use both.
At this time, we are not able to certify that all products available
through Quixtar are gluten free. Please note that there are currently no
Canadian regulations regarding the use of the term "gluten-free". We expect
this to change within the next few years, but at this time, a product label
may say "gluten-free" if there is no known source of gluten added to the
product. However, this does not guarantee that the product is actually free
of any trace amounts of gluten."
LAME!
Does anyone know why canada has no regulations regarding gluen free labeling?? Does this mean I can not trust "gluten free" to be gluten free ????

Thanks for all of the replies! This is so nice. I actually did not verify wih the company the source of the maltodextrin and mod. food starch. I paniced! I will do this! how great would it be if i just overreacted!! But i am still pretty sure. The whole scalp/sickness thing makes me very nervous - I'll let ya'll know!

It's been awhile since I have posted. I feel like I am in a nightmare! I have been taking the same multivitamin for about 3 years. Its actually 3 pills, through a company of a freind of mine. I assumed ( first mistake) it was fine as when she introduced me to them I was just really begining to understand my Celiac and gluten awareness. A label said " no naturally occuring gluten". I assumed( again...big mistake) it was fine. I ran out of my vitamins about a month ago. I noticed within a week my skin broke out, and I was bruising easily so i ordered a new box. BUT today when it arrived I thought - may as well read the ingredients. To my horror, Maltodextrin AND Modified Food Starch are among the first non-medical ingredients. I felt sick! I called my freind and explained...her reponse? " well, i wonder how much it really contains. sometimes they have to list it b/c its made on the same equipment, or maybe it just has trace amounts" oh my word!!!! I kindly and breifly said, yet again, I cannot even have traces of gluten. Its really not good for me.
Anyways, I have sent the vitamins back. I just cant beleive this!!! And now I am thinking, HOLY COW what have I been putting in my body! Another light bulb just went on as well, I have had this terrible skin condition on my scalp for....ding ding... about 3 years!!!! I wonder if it will clear now?
What can I do to heal? I am soooo choked at msyelf for being so niave! I would sometime throw up the vitamins within 20 minutes of taking them and I thought it was just b/c they were potent! Now I know my body was like " hello!!!! please dont take these!"
Thanks for listening:(

PHEW! Ok, this may need to be clarified on the forum as it was said to have gluten in it.
No, it is not true. Millet does not contain gluten. However, a prepared product made with millet might have gluten from another ingredient.Open Original Shared Link

I just read a posting in my daily e-mail that said Millet contains gluten? Is this true?
This would be a very very very scary thing!!!!!!!

Thoughts!?!
I have had this patch of scalp for about 6 months that wont go away. I have tried all diff. shampoos, non-gluten, dandruff etc. I am starting to think it may be have something to do with celiac.
Its a specific patch on my scalp near the front of my head/hairline that peels no matter what I do. Sometimes itchy, but mostly just flakes in big chunks. Its gross! And it wont go away:(

Yummy. Taco Del Mar. I searched thier site, they have a whole Gluten Free page explaining what to not eat, what is gluten-free. Wonderful.
www.tacodelmar.com/food/gluten.html
Except I was still getting sick! SO, I started eliminating things from the Baja bowl that I get, which really should have no gluten according to the site. I think I have put my finger on it, its the RICE! and perhaps the sour cream which can have modified food starch.
It has a coating on it, that they say is not glutened but I beg to differ. So the Baja bowl with beans, lettuce, salsa, tomatoes is very good:)
Anyone else have any experience?

Hi there,
The first time I was in church after going gluten-free I was with my boyfriend and I wasnt thinking about it at all and I grabbed a piece of cracker and the little juice ( Protestant church), and waited for the pastor to give the cue. My boyfreind shoved me in the ribs and gave me and then the cracker in my hand the look of death. I then realized that I had forgotten! So I gave it to him and felt very guilty and just took the juice. We talked about it after as I was a bit upset, unsure of what to do as we don't go to church very often, but when we do and there is communion I do like to partake and I know that God isnt some judjmental being whom would cast me to hell for having a gluten intolerance and not able to share in that part of communion. So then the next time we're at a diff. church, one that I grew up in, and we're sitting next to an older couple whom I have known for years and years. They pass us the plates, I take the juice and no wine, and this lady gives me a gruff look and breaks me a piece of her bread. I whisper, "no thanks I have celiac - a flour allergy, I cant" and she then grunts and SHOVES it in my hand! My boyfriend is looking at me in horror, I am sitting with this bread in my hand and this lady staring at me to see if I eat it when the pastor says "eat ye all of it". SO of course I didnt, and the lady leanes over and says " Its communion! I am concerned! you should be able to eat just a bite! Be reverant" I didnt. And I was red in the face for th rest of the service. After I tried to explain to her that I really cant have any, I have an illness and will get very sick etc. She assured me that God would heal me if I prayed and that I should take part in communion anyways. GOOD GREIF eh? I havnt been in a service where there is communion since, so next time i think I'll just make sure we sit where I can not be watched! And go through the motions as I think the important part, for me, would be to reflect and partake with the juice and that will be ok!
For someone who has communion on a regular basis, I would just bring your own!

Ok so I know that I have Celiac...I am so so so careful. I also know that I have a peanut allergy, also so so so careful. So last weekend I am with some freinds and we went clam digging on the coast ( very random, but fun!) we roast up the clams and loh and behold within minutes of having ONE BITE of this dreadful Razor Clam I break out on hives all over my hands and by ears swell and my tounge also strarts to swell. SO SCARY. I start freaking as i know that I must be having some sort of anaphilactic ( spelling?) reaction, luckily have some antihistimine, take several and suffer for several days with a sore tounge, feverish and hives galour. I went to my doctor as soon as possible and she prescribed an Epipen right away which is good as my peanut allergy can become worse in time too. great. so now I have a crazy allergy to shellfish?!?When will it ever end!?! I have an appiontment with an Allergist ( again) soon to clarify this new found allergy. Good greif! SO why have I not reacted like this before? I have eaten crab for ages...no problems, but this was a first with this evil Razor Clam.....
Has any one else had anything like this happen? Is my body trying to destroy me??! I gotta laugh, but its really not that funny. People around me are getting tired of hearing ' i cant have...i have this and such allergy etc' and now " heres a large needle with medicine in it, please shove it in my thigh if i start to swell'.....sigh....

Hi there,
I find that it can totally depend. Usually if I have gluten i feel it within a few hours. Headache and Foggy head are the first symptoms and then for the next day or two I'll have bad stomach and need a toilet close by. It depends on how much gluten though. I was badly glutened over christmas and I am still feeling it 3 weeks later!

Hay No Glu Girl,
Dont loose hope! I have an incredible boyfriend and he is not Celiac. We have days when he is very stretched with me when I have been glutened and am down. We have had to work through a lot of negative stuff with me being sick and down or missng out on things.... but he is very good at trying his best to accomodate and care about me glutened or not( the not times are much happeir). I figure, as a celiac...we are like this, we have celiac. If you had cancer or diabetes you would just take it one day at a time and live life to the fullest possible. If someone cant recognize who you are and only see the inconvenience of being celiac then they are not worth your love:) I bet you are lots of fun!!! Just be real and honest and dont apologize for a condition that you cannot control( in the sense of having a disease.) Some people are not very understanding, but a lot are. Celiac can be so lonley though...i get that:)
Are there any Celiac Singles Sites? ( cheezy maybe:) but would be cool to conect with someone who walks with this too?).

Just a tip for using meletonin ( which is great) you must take it and then get into bed and have the lights off! I have found that it wont work as well or at all if I take it and then putt around before bed. The Melatonin stimulates your natural reaction to it being night time so you have to make sure that the room is dark..try 1mg at first...sometimes i need up to 3 mg. You can get both doses in pill form at the health food store:) I think you can even get it at drugstores too...
good luck!

Does anyone know if PHO, a popular soup, contain gluten? I cant find any info. It is a broth (appears to be the broth from meat not soup)with rice noodles ( i think) and meet and veggies.

Hay!
I fully understand! My parents are the same way. They try, but just don't undertsand how sick I get. There was the time when my mom made me stir fry...assuring me that there was no gluten, that she made sure! I asked her all the ingredients and it did seem ok, 'wow mum! ' I thought ' thanks! ' but then after eating it, she asked if Soy Suace was ok as she has put some in for flavor, but just a bit! GAH! So i was sick:( Or this past christmas day, when I asked her if the pancakes that were set on the table for me were the gluten free ones. Her answer was yes, I TRIPLE checked with her, ate the pancakes, and then my dad came in with a very pale face and asked which pancakes I had eaten...the gluten free ones were on the stove. GAH! Again....Mom meant the best but totally doesnt get it, then for the next week I have to excuse myself from doing anything, boyfriend is annoyed, Im sad to miss out on fun stuff....ya. Going home SHOULD be a safe place, but not for some of us Celiacs I am afraid. I am getting to the point now where I think i am just going to have to explian that I cant eat any food prepared by them as its just to risky. Have you tried printing out any info. for them? I put together a package of Celiac info. a while ago with info on what Ceiac is, what happens if I eat gluten etc. Then a list of OK foods and a list of Forbidden foods. It hasnt helped much with the safety of eating with family but it has helped with the constant questions. I just say go read the info.
I hope your feeling better soon! It is nice to have a place to vent though eh? I just discovered this site last week and it has already been a blessing!
Rest as much as you can! Celiac sux....hang in there.

Hello:)
I ate 3 wheat pancakes on Christmas Morning after a misunderstanding about gluten free pancakes that were on the stove, I ate the wheat ones on the table. HORROR! So its now been a week and I am still feeling it. I have found that daily excerize, lots of herbals tea, water and real ginger ale( not sugar loaded pop, but ginger ale from health food store with real ginger) and lots of gluten-free food is helping me stay motivated to not give up as I have been feeling awful since the pancake horror:) I have been sleeping alot, however having a very difficult time sleeping at night, I am sleeping about 5 hours a day napping, then am exhausted at bed time, but cant stay alseep....not fun! I have also been super cranky and have a'short fuse' with people. As far as what one an do to speed up the detox....sometimes I find that eating a bowl of plain airpopped popcorn and some gingerale can calm my tummy and get things moving through alot faster then not eating anything at all ( which I have done in the past). My New Years resolution is to be more strict and careful than ever! Yoga, sleep, excersize, tea, gingerale and good gluten-free foods are my adivce when recovering from a gluten reaction. It truly sucks! But eventually will be better:)
