  1. Do you live in Vancouver and have celiac disease or a gluten intolerance. I'd love to hear from you!
  2. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I'm looking for an excel sheet to track all my gluten free purchases and the cost difference. I can't find the one discussed in this thread from CRA. Does anyone have a good excel sheet they can share with me?
  3. THANK YOU, I too was afraid it was a new change and I didn't like it at all !!! I was getting so frustrated trying to read through some posts. I've fixed it now
  4. I finally got an email back from Aveda. While they won't tell me which products DON'T contain gluten they did provide me with a more updated list of their products that DO contain gluten. This list was updated April 12, 2006: WHEAT: DISODIUM WHEAT GERMAMIDO PEG-2 SULFOSUCCINATE CALMING LIQUID CLEANSER ENERGIZING LIQUID CLEANSER SHAMPURE SHAMPOO...
  5. Thank you for all the suggestions!
  6. Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm still worried about going in for a cleaning because I can't afford to get glutened and miss a few days of work! I still need to give them a call to see how accommodating they'll be to my needs. I'll let you know what happens when I finally get the courage to go.
  7. Thank you for the update. I guess it's up to the consumer to decide if wheat germ oil contains gluten or not! I haven't looked into it yet so I have no comment.
  8. Can you tell me the names of the two products? Thanks!
  9. I'm in Canada but I'd be interested to find out if any of you subscribe to a gluten free cooking magazine wherever you live and what it's called. I think this would be great to have for new ideas but I don't know if such a thing exists!
  10. Something just crossed my mind as I need to book a dentist appointment. Do I need to find out if the products they use in my mouth at the dentist are gluten free?! Things like the white stuff they use to polish, the flouride treatment (some are liquid others are a paste) etc. Has anyone ever thought about this before or looked into it?
  11. I don't know the answer to your question but I'm sure someone else will. I do however want to know which products you were asking about. I LOVE Dr. Hauschka products but haven't yet tried to contact them to find out which ones are gluten free. Do you mind sharing whatever information you have found so far?
  12. Really? That's strange. I don't eat yogurt because I'm allergic but a coworker brought one over to me and I read the ingredients. It said right on it that it contained gluten. I wonder if its a certain flavor or something. The one I read definitely had gluten in it.
  13. These are great lists, thank you. Although very disappointing because I love aveda products. I emailed Aveda today but I thought I'd ask here as well. Does anyone know if their 'all sensitive' line (cleanser, toner, moisturizer) are gluten free? I just bought these about a month ago and I LOVE them. I do notice however that when I put the cream on my face...
  14. In Canada the Activia yoghurt has wheat listed right in the ingredients! Why you need to put wheat in yoghurt is beyond me.
  15. A conversation about my birthday coming up in July brought my attention to the fact that I won't be able to just accept shots that people buy me anymore! Now I hardly ever drink but when I do and IF I want to do a shot (for my bday or someone elses etc.) I'd like to know some safe options! Sicilian Kiss is one of my favs and it has southern comfort and amaretto...
  16. Wow, I can't believe gluten can do this. I've been sooooooo depressed and exhausted the past 1.5 wks. I just found out today something I ate the weekend the depression came back had wheat in it! Could it possibly be making me feel this depressed and for this long? How long does it take you to feel better when it happens? I was feeling so good 2-3 weeks...
  17. I just made the connection today. 6 weeks gluten free and I've been feeling better and better every week. ONE of the biggest improvements was the lifting of my depression. For the past 1.5 wks I've felt really depressed and extremely tired. I didn't know where it came from but it came on hard and I haven't been able to shake it off yet. After visiting...
  18. I haven't had any luck finding a gluten-free bbq sauce yet and we want to make chicken wings tonight! Can you please tell me what you use? I'm in Canada but hopefully most US products can be found here. Thanks!
  19. THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of your responses! You have no idea how much this helps me!
  20. I think this is going to be the hardest meal of the day for me as I can't possibly eat eggs every day and I can't eat dairy (except butter) My requirements for breakfast: -gluten and casein/lactose free -must contain protein to keep my blood sugar balanced (hypoglycemia) The combination of these 2 things makes it hard for me to figure out what to...
  21. When I find out more from my naturopathic doctor I will let you know! I need to get some more details.
  22. I learned a lot about Celiac Disease and Gluten Intolerance/Sensitivity from my naturopathic doctor this week. I went into his office thinking that celiac disease and gluten intolerance were a very different diagnoses with different treatments. Hence the reason for me wanting to know which one I had. Well, as you can guess, I was wrong. The treatment...
  23. Well I've got another update. My blood results came back negative and the doctor was going to send me away telling me that I don't have Celiac and nothing is wrong with me. I insisted on getting the IgA blood test because I've done my research and I've read that if that comes back low (or deficient) that it will give a false negative on the celiac test...
  24. I've finally got some great news!!! Little did I know that my naturopathic doctor is gluten sensitive and this is his specialty. He's been on a gluten free diet for 8 years. He has a saliva test that is done in Canada to test for the same thing that Enterolab tests for in the stool. He even did his own study where patients did both tests and they came...
  25. I've read a lot about Enterolab from people on this site but as I'm in Canada I don't think this testing is available to me. I'm not sure if there is something similar in Canada. I'm just received my blood test results in the mail as I requested a copy and I don't understand them. As soon as my IgA test comes back I'm going to be taking them to my naturopathic...
