  1. It'll be interesting to see what turns up in terms of environmental allergens when I go for the second round. I've only had the food ones so far. I am still so shocked how one allergy can send the body into a complete frenzy!! I am going to do some more research about the allergic vs. intolerant.... On a separate note, I just bought a Bette Hagman...
  2. Thanks so much for your reply! That makes me feel a lot better. Do you know much about positive skin reactions? My naturopath said it's unusual for a Celiac patient to react with the skin scratch test unless the allergy is pretty severe? That seems to be what you're saying too...I haven't been able to find much research about that. Any other info. you...
  3. That's what many of us in the crowd were saying too.... To me, I will continue to buy the gluten-free just to be on the safe side...one less thing to worry about!!
  4. I attended a Celiac Education Day and heard that in order to be truly diagnosed as a Celiac you must have a positive biopsy. My doctor put me on a gluten free diet and then referred me to an allergist specialist doctor. He did blood work (positive) and the skin allergy test thing (reaction to wheat, rye, oats, melons, nuts & peanuts, casein). He referred...
  5. I attended a Celiac conference today and the doctor from MacMaster Hospital and the nurtitionist (Shelley Case) both said that the gluten molecules are too large to penetrate the skin so moisturizers, shampoos, etc. are fine. The only thing they said to watch for was gluten in lipstick. I was surprised to hear this. After everything I read on this forum...
  6. Hi there, Have you checked out Open Original Shared Link yet?? I live in Burlington, ON, so let me know how things go. MJ
  7. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This opens up a lot more options at Kelsey's then. We thought it was weird since all of the other items that actually contained wheat flour, had "CONTAINS WHEAT GLUTEN" written underneath the list of ingredients and the lists with "mustard flour" didn't. Makes sense now.... Thanks again for clarifying, MJ
  8. Which Dominion in Mississauga??? The one at Applewood Plaza doesn't from what I could see. I asked a girl working in the aisle and she started backing away from me like I had some sort of contagious disease....
  9. I know this thread was started awhile ago, but they must have had too many complaints so they removed the list. If you read their allergy section about gluten, it says they're not planning on rewriting another list. Too bad because it would be a good starting point....
  10. So I just have to share how excited I am!! We're in the process of selling our house, so it's been really hard to cook at home. Again tonight we get a call that someone wants to see our house. We are starving and decide to go to Kelsey's. When the hostess greeted us, I told her I have Celiac and was wondering if they had many options. She got the manager...
  11. I went gluten-free in January 2007 and I honestly cannot believe the difference. I cannot even begin to fathom how I survived before cutting poison out of my diet! I don't know if it's the vitamins (B12 shot and oral supplements), the improvement in my sleep or the peace of mind of just knowing what's wrong with me, but I'm loving life now!! It's an adventure...
  12. I bought a pizza crust in Oakville the other day and discovered mold when I got it home and went to use it.
  13. I've been going to my Naturopath to get B12 shots. Does anyone know where to buy these?? Do you ask your doctor for a prescription? My mother-in-law is a nurse so she could give it to me. It would save me frequent trips to the naturopath's office that's for sure! I can't believe I didn't even consider that I could do it on my own. What about the oral type...
  14. I am SOOOO excited! I live right around the corner from the Burlington Convention Centre!! A GLUTEN-FREE BUFFET?!!?!? That is my dream! Buffets are the one thing that I've missed most since going gluten-free! I bought Shelley Case's book to help me get going properly with this diet and she's speaking there! I find this so amazing! Thanks for letting us know...
  15. So true GFMemphis!! I've been doing a lot of reading in these forums and it's what's kept me going since going gluten-free in January 2007. I appreciate the tips on traveling - I find it so challenging to even go out for a meal once in awhile!! I feel reassured for sure! Thanks all!
  16. Hi all, I've been reading a lot on this site since going gluten-free since Jan. 2007. I live in Burlington, ON...moving to Oakville in August. Does anyone know of a good dietician in this area?? I've lost 15 pounds since starting this "diet", but I really want to see someone who knows about celiac. Thanks, MJ
