  1. Yeah, it's orthostatic hypotension. After reading your question as to whether or not it could be related to thyroid, I did an Internet search and found that it can. Check out this web page: Open Original Shared Link I just wonder about my linea nigra - that brown line on my belly pregnant women are supposed to get - and I'm not pregnant. Makes me wonder...
  2. Hi. I just got my gene test results back. I'm double HLA-DQ1. Check out this web page: Open Original Shared Link Specifically, check out the section titled "Why are gene results so complicated, and which genes predispose to gluten sensitivity/celiac sprue?" According to information available in that section (about 3/4 of the way down), celiac disease...
  3. Yeah, that makes sense on some level. But if that's the case - that it can be natural - then why, when you do a search on it, does it always talk about it appearing during pregnancy and going away after? I read that it can also be related to adrenal insufficiency... don't know what to think. Thanks for the post.
  4. Hi - I have a linea nigra, that brown line that extends down from your belly button when you get pregnant. Only problem is, I'm not pregnant (no chance whatsoever) and have never been pregnant. I read that this is a form of hyperpigmentation. I know that Addison's causes hyperpigmentation. Anyone ever heard of Addison's causing linea nigra in particular...
  5. I have a linea nigra - it's the brown line you get when you're pregnant, and it extends from the belly button downward. The strange thing is that I'm not pregnant. I have never been pregnant. There is 0% liklihood that I am pregnant now - it would have to be an immaculate conception. Plus, I've had this for years. What's up? I did a search on "linea...
  6. By no means would I say that she is gluten-sensitive, because the only thing I know at this point is it sounds like she had exercise-induced urticaria, which can be caused by any number of things. However, I should tell you that scientists and doctors are starting to recognize that gluten sensitivity does not always manifest in the "classic symptoms." ...
  7. I suggest you go to www.enterolab.com and read about their tests. A lot of people with celiac disease are really happy with them because apparently their tests are more sensitive and can diagnose people who may not show positive on traditional tests. Good luck!
  8. EnteroLab seems to believe they can diagnose celiac disease. I think I believe them. I got this off their website: This test has shown to be 100% sensitive for picking up celiac sprue in those so affected. This test is being offered at an affordable price by EnteroLab. That quote is found specifically on the following page: Open Original Shared Link
  9. Check out this website: Open Original Shared Link It says there is a connection between sleep conditions (such as sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome) and autoimmune diseases. I haven't been diagnosed yet, but I came down with celiac bowel and malabsorption symptoms a month and a half ago. Three days into that, I developed sleep apnea. I went off...
  10. It is called "hypotonia." Do an Internet search on it. It is accompanied by late developmental markers, meaning that if you have it, you walk late. Usually people talk late too and are socially awkward, at least when they're younger. There is a link. Do an Internet search on celiac + hypotonia, and you will see the link. People with celiac sometimes have...
  11. How do they feed you? When you deploy, do they give you special gluten-free meals? I'm sure there are plenty of people in the U.S. military who have celiac, since celiac is underdiagnosed. Plus, a lot of people lie about their medical (and other) history to get in. I can't imagine many people lying about celiac, though, because... how can you hide it?...
  12. I think it's possible I have a wheat allergy and celiac. I experienced some of the classic symptoms for only a few weeks before going gluten-free. I had bowel symptoms, severe weakness, and pains in my limbs and joints (which I was told was likely from vitamin deficiency). My mom, who's a nurse, was afraid I might have cancer. A lot of people in my family...
  13. Oops. I guess the military probably has me on two counts then. I get exercise-induced urticaria. I've only recently discovered what that is. Sometimes people who experience that have a risk of anaphylaxis. Once I had an experience I thought may have been heat stroke, but looking back I wonder if it was anaphylaxis. I've been experiencing, also, swelling of...
  14. Hi. I'm in the military, and I'm pretty sure I have celiac disease. I'm going through Entero Lab for diagnosis. I'm in the Air National Guard. I'm afraid I'll get kicked out when (and if) I get a positive diagnosis... Oh well. I hate MREs. I never had one I liked. Nasty. Question on giving blood: Do any of you have trouble giving blood, physically speaking...
  15. Hi. I did some more research on this (since I have the same itchy skin from exercise), and it turns out it can be more serious than I thought, and YES, it can be related to gluten. It is called exercise-induced urticaria or anaphylaxis. Actually, the urticaria is the hives. The anaphylaxis means "a severe allergic reaction." Don't trust my explanation...

  17. I don't think I have DH, but when I haven't exercised for a while and start back up, I itch really bad, and my skin gets red - primarily on my thighs and stomach. It forces me to stop exercising, it gets so bad. If I keep exercising some on a daily basis, it goes away. I've never met anyone who had this same problem. I've asked my friends before if...
  18. Hi. I haven't been diagnosed yet, but I'm going through that process. I've got so many symptoms, and there are so many related conditions in my family (including thyroid issues, irritable bowel syndrome, loss of hair, lactose intolerance, fibromyalgia, lupus, diverticulitis), that I'll be extremely surprised if I don't have it. Plus, going gluten-free fixed...
