  1. Oops, I mistook Delina for Melina--beautiful-sounding, though homonymous names, I might add.
  2. Hi, Meline! It's time to clear out your kitchen cupboards where you've kept all your food and condiments. Some of these edibles are not truly edible, and must be given away to a presumed non-celiac. I assume that as a celiac, you are only intolerant of wheat and do not also have an allergy to corn. If so, you are fortunate to be in Florida, where...
  3. -Amber wrote: "...So does anyone have any info on it? Like how much is it, does it really help, what is their web address, etc.! thank you so much!" Here in Fresno, (Central) California, Gluten-Ease is sold by Sunrise Health Foods (at Shaw and Marks avenues) for $19.99 per bottle. On one hand, I'd think a bottle could come in handy in case of accidental...
  4. Myself, I keep a bag of xanthan gum powder in an air-tight cannister in the fridge. On the bag (Bob's Red Mill), it says the powder keeps fresher in the fridge or freezer. But, the cannister is due to my own initiative. I believe that the powder should store freshly for about two years under these condition. I hope this helps. 8->
  5. Hi, holdthegluten! A food-panel test, covering possible sensitivities to 30 different foods, is performed by Diagnos-Techs, Inc. in Kent, Washington. Dr. Scott Swarthout, D.C., who has an office on North Millbrook Avenue here in Fresno, can order the test for you. FYI: pjmaxx was once a patient of, but otherwise has no business relationship with Dr....
  6. Hi, Micah! As a celiac myself, I wouldn't dare touch any food made by Taco Bell. Nor would I dare eat most frozen french fries. You write that you experienced mental fog after eating eggs. Besides celiac disease, I have an allergy to eggs (as well as dairy and soy products). It's not unusual for a celiac patient to have other food allergies--allergies...
  7. Dear Mariann: I live in Fresno, have been gluten free since January 2007, and am wondering if you still come into town on your shopping errands. I would like to help form a group to support celiacs in the Fresno area and thought you might be interested in this endeavor, as your busy schedule permits. While experiencing a number of serious symptoms, I...
  8. Oops! I mistook holdthegluten, a fellow celiac Fresnan, for Wayne Dyer--that motivational speaker I used to see on Channel 18.
  9. Hello, Wayne! I live in Fresno's Tower District and have been doing my best to eat gluten-free since mid-January 2007. About one month ago, the Community Regional Medical Center performed a blood test by which I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Beginning nine months and until my recent visit to that hospital, I had a number of symptoms, including anemia...
  10. Hi, Kathleen! (I hope I got your name right.) Now age 38, I've been a pretty big guy most of my life with a waistline of about 44 inches during the past decade or so. Whenever my waistline has gotten larger once every year or so, I've been accustomed to going on a reducing diet--figuring I had some genetic predisposition to megamorphism (a big body). ...
