  1. I am glad to have my brain back too! I was diagnosed /w idiopathic epilepsy at 21 or 22 years old, though by history I had evidence of seizures in childhood. (Diagnosed w/ IBS at same time & can't remember ever having normal GI function.) My mental functioning continued to decrease untill I was diagnosed w/ Alziemers in my 30's. I went low gluten...
  2. Autumn, I hate to hear you & your daughter got glutened. Thought I would let you know that someone in another forum had same complaint last week /w Cheetos. Hope you guys feel better soon, Deb
  3. Mayflowers, Yes, I hurt it lifting an 11 yo who made me look tiny. I was almost recovered from the surgery to repair that damage when I had a car accident & fractured my spine. I lost function & most feeling from waist down. I had a second surgery (360 degree fusion) that included placing a hardware store in my spine. It took 1 full year,...
  4. Thanks for your concern ladies. Don't worry, I was a critical care nurse & know all about water intoxication. I have other health problems & have been dehydrated. I have had postural hypotension from it & really need the volume. Today I had: 4 servings of cleanse water Snack: 1 pouch Welch's Fruit Snacks ...
  5. I am from Weatherford & am having same challenge. I go into Ft Worth a lot & have to make the trip count for as much as I can, so I have to eat while there. I can handle it at home but I keep getting glutened when I go out, even though I try to be carefull. Good Luck, Deb
  6. I live about 3 hrs drive from Fort Hood, or 1 1/2 if my daughter (Nickie) is ill & needs mom (She had a bad medication reaction while her hubby was deployed.) Unfortunately they were shipped to Ft. Cambell, KY. last year. Enjoy Ft. Hood. Nickie found it was a friendly place. Home is Weatherford, TX. I have celiac disease, take care of a 22 month...
  7. Oh yeah btw we also use Bar-S Franks made with chicken, pork & beef. They are dirt cheap & toddler friendly. , Deb
  8. I second the thanks on the list. I take care of a 22 month old, who was diagnosed about a year ago. I have recently discovered that I also have celiac disease. Here are a few of the items we use: Gerber Graduate Wagon Wheels Gerber Graduate & Parent's Choice dryed fruits & veggies I also buy products made by "Just Tomatoes"-these...
  9. Hi everyone. Thanks for your input. Today was so much better. I knew I would be accountable tonight, so it made it easier to avoid tempation. I did great when my adult daughter lived w/ me. We were dieting together. (For some reason she moved back w/ her hubby when he came back from Iraq. lol) My parents & best friend are on this diet too. I...
  10. Don't be so sure it won't go further than research. I am a spinner. As in-I spin fiber on a spinning wheel to make thread/yarn. I, myself have bought soysilk & cornsilk fibers. Fortunately the fiber shows/shops label very clearly the content. We are very picky people. I will keep an eye out for this one (to avoid). High quality fiber is very expensive...
  11. I went on a diet called Isagenix in late June. It happens to be gluten-free. I was making gluten-free choices for my grains because they were lower in calories. Suddenly my "IBS" was gone! Yep, you probably guessed it, this was my first clue as to what was really wrong w/ me. I have extended family with gluten allergies/intolerance. I started my diet...
  12. Hmmm... I have never considered this possibility before. Gluten intolerance/allergy runs on my fathers side of the family, as does dyslexia. I have both celiac disease & a language processing disorder (dyslexia + the auditory equivalent). I have a genius IQ but have a low digit span (ability to remember numbers). I have increased this by useing my hands...
  13. I have read that many people have problems w/ cross reactions for a time. Especially dairy, corn & soy. Some of my family members have problems w/ dairy & soy, but all have been able to go back to dairy after a while of being gluten free (months to a year). Corn is a fairly common one. Solution: Most of ur gluten free sites tell you if products...
  14. You have just given me hope! I have been in sever pain for 20 years. I have suffered from celiac disease all my life (47 yrs). I have been through misdiagnosis & more than a little of the "we don't know why you're having problems (so we will play ostrich & bury our heads in sand so it will go away)". I could list the problems i've had, but you...
