  1. On one hand it will actually be a relief if this is the culprit, and not anything else I ate.
  2. I had a bad reaction this week. Trying to figure out what it was - one of the culprits could be the dental molds I had made this week -- they use this flavored yellow molding material (alginate?) -- and I am sure I managed to not get it all out of my mouth and probably swallowed some. I didn't even think of it at the time. Anyone here with any experience...
  3. Curious -- might this also vary by state? Anyone know anything about that? If you were able to get life / health insurance with no issues and an 'official' Celiac dx -- what state are you in, and what company did you go with?
  4. Cetaphil is great stuff isn't it? I had hoped that going gluten-free would clear up my skin at least a little, as I had heard from several people that it could.
  5. Just to chime in here -- whether the meat is "good" (no steroids, no antibiotics) or not, you can still get sick from it with parasites. Long before people started giving steroids and antibiotics to animals, animals still got parasites, viruses, bacteria and so forth. They've found dinosaur skeletons with proof of cancer & tumours. So while avoiding...
  6. Wish I could say that going gluten free has cleared up my acne, but alas dietary changes have provided no response whatsoever in the past 10 months. If anything it has gotten worse! Then again, I'm one of those people that diet never affected my skin anyway.
  7. Can't offer any info about gluten reaction - just a thought but could it be milia? Beyond Differin, salicylic acid containing products may help with that, or Retin-A.
  8. I too have reflux. I noticed improvement with my reflux within a few days. But your description sounds particularly bad. Don't know if this helps... I elevate the head of my bed 6-8" (using extra pillows under your head will make your reflux worse as it changes your alignment and puts pressure on your stomach). Have you tried sleeping on your left...
  9. RLS, anti-depressants and Iron --- RE: Antidepessants -- Funny you ask this, this conversation just came up with a doctor -- Some people do have problems with RLS and certain antidepressants and often will get better with time, a few weeks or so. If not, maybe your doctor could offer some suggestions. RE: Iron -- Also RLS can be connected to...
  10. Thank you for posting this -- it is a great resource to have and share.
  11. JNBunnie1 -- thanks it does help. I just started wondering how individuals deal, on a day to day basis, with the vagaries of their Dx.
  12. Reading old threads on kitchen organization and I started wondering -- Is there a difference between how people maintain their kitchen (how strict or stringent they are) if they do not have a confirmation of their celiac diagnosis? I understand what a celiac diagnosis from most doctors means, as well as what gluten-intolerant means and have no judgment...
  13. Good idea, thanks for pointing that out. Was there anything else you could think of missing from my list?
  14. If you had a toaster oven already, did you replace it? E.g., could a toaster oven be shared between gluten-free and non-gluten-free family members? I don't have space for a 2nd toaster, so if I need to not use it, I'll just do my own "toasting" in my big stove I guess.
  15. What about food processors, mixers, electric foreman grills, et cetera?
  16. --- I don't microwave mine either, and I'm wondering did you replace the tupperware type stuff b/c of scratches in it? --- I'm on the fence about the pans and have recently begun wondering about them (nonstick, but they are hard-anodized so its rougher than traditional smooth teflon coated pans). It is hard to think of getting rid of a lot of my...
  17. Hi folks, Wondering what utensils and equipment you replaced in your kitchen when converting to gluten-free besides toasters and colanders? Anyone use any silicon kitchen tools -- bowls, molds, scrapers, spoons? If so, did you replace any of them? Ridged, non-stick pots and pans -- our pans have shallow ridges (part of the design) in them, I scrub...
  18. Hi - sounds very much like it could be one of two things - try webmd or google -- proctalgia fugax or levator ani syndrome both are muscular issues - remedies include dietary changes, warm baths, physical therapy or medication -- a good GI or lower-GI specialist should be able to help.
  19. Janeti - good luck with the testing, hopefully your dr will have some ideas as to what is going on for you.
  20. I would second happygirl's comments here. Sounds like it could be any of a number of vitamin or mineral deficiencies, easy for your doctor to check this out.
  21. Odd coincidence here. Just been posting about Vitamin D in another area of the forum, and I noticed your posting in this area. By no means am I an expert on prolonged QT times, but... I know from reading up on Vitamin D deficiency / hypocalcemia that these things can be related to prolonged QT times. Try googling this. There are also other symptoms of...
  22. Just popping back, were your Vit D levels low? Some sites, in case you're interested (I think we can post links on the boards...): Solid, basic Vit D info: Open Original Shared Link See for muscle spasms: Open Original Shared Link Good Vit D info: Open Original Shared Link Celiac, dietary info: Open Original Shared Link Common symptom...
  23. Hi folks - only posting here as I just did a search of the glutenfreeforum for Vitamin D references... In case it is of any use whatsoever -- the entire reason I was sent for celiac testing was my very, very low Vit D levels -- and I live in the Northeast of the US. I'm currently awaiting some kind of resolution on my diagnosis (not firm...
  24. GFMemphis -- if you find the reference / link / authors, et cetera for this piece, please post! Thanks!
  25. Ravenwoodglass -- thanks for your insights, much appreciated and helpful. Another note said 'no significant neutrophilic activity identified' - does that sound also similar?
