  1. Sorry...... If it makes you feel any better, I'm having scrambled eggs and toast for dinner right now. So outta steam...... I did actually do every single dish in my sink. That's my major accomplishment today. i could just not post the recipes......
  2. Kay, today is the first day with no steroids. There will be zero culinary hijinks. The weeklong lack of sleep has caught up with me. I will happily describe last nights superlative dinner though! So I was thinking lasagna, but I didn't have lasagna noodles or time to drive to the closest store that carries them. So I used penne. I make lasagna filling...
  3. It's actually more related to nutrient deficiencies. Certain metabolisms, like mine, when deprived of nutrients will lose weight until people start asking if you're ok. Other metabolisms are the kind where you may be short on nutrients, but as long as you're getting any calories at all your body will hold them tight and not release any of them, turning them...
  4. Poor Joodie.... Yer computer's messin wit you, ain't it? I'll write up what I do for dinner later, I'm never sure what's gonna happen til I do it.... I'm thinkin white lasagna.
  5. I was gonna say, penii don't have a plethora of subjects they'd like to discuss.... There's really only two. So coconut chicken! Simple: Smash up a cup or two of honey nut rice chex, mix with 1/2 cup or so shredded coconut and garlic/salt/pepper. Then dip chicken pieces in coconut milk and then the dry mix (I only dip one side in the dry mix because...
  6. When we saw Robin Williams he did a bit about genitalia and how they were 'built' by committee. "Let's add curtains! And a doorbell! When you ring the doorbell, the curtains will open! And we made it horizontal, but it started to talk, so we went vertical...."
  7. Sorry, sorry! I was caught up making tonight's dinner, which was crispy coconut chicken with maple mashed sweet potatos. I'm sure you're not interested in that.... So the beef stuff! Two pounds o beef, huge pile of diced onion, 3 ripe avocados (woulda been 4 but #4 bit the dust) and a big scoop of sour cream. Brown beef and onion, I put the onion in...
  8. They actually put me on steroids because I had sumac (not ivy) and it was all over my face and neck and my throat started to close so I couldn't breathe, so steroids STAT. Probably not the kinda doses you'd use for tendonitis though, doesn't take much to kick a poison sumac rash. The benadryl wasn't working too. You guys wanna hear how the beef stuff...
  9. Yup! I'm not easily spooked though, I thought it was interesting.
  10. Oh! Oh! Oh! I almost forgot! My sweet hunk of a boyfriend decided to get me treats for my birthday (April 30) And went to this gluten free bakery a town over and ordered me a heart shaped chocolate cake, got muffins, three cupcakes, and a brownie. All I asked for was a cupcake!!! But the lady who started this bakery went to school to be a dessert artist before...
  11. Actually, that was just for the first few days. I'm down to ten a day til I run out, not that much really, just enough to keep my system from having a 'resurgence'. And I would do the pasta sauce, but I'm not doing tomato right now cuz I think they make my tummy angry. I'm gonna challenge in a few weeks, but for now I have to get creative, hence the...
  12. Ok, could someone please get over here and restrain me? I'm still on steroids from the rash I had (turned out to be sumac, by the way, eeek) so I'm going nuts in the kitchen today because I ran out of stuff to do. I put white rice and cashew/carrot/ginger soup in the crockpot with chunked up chicken and broccoli for lunch tomorrow. I've got two pounds...
  13. Sweet cream is my fave too!!! I've been trying to buy a quart of it from them but the few times I've stopped by they don't have that flavor in the freezer section.
  14. I make hot chocolate on the stove with milk, cocoa powder, vanilla, and real maple syrup. Mmmm......
  15. Who lost a foot?!?!?!?!? Gee, I really need to try harder to keep up......
  16. Oh, yeah, it takes like 24-48 hours to dry up, which I learned the hard way. Basically I go way overboard with the dressing and it's usually just a bit dry the next day.
  17. Oh, anyone who's interested in speculating on the design of my particular rash is welcome to PM with their email.
  18. THANK YOU, DEAR SWEET BABY JESUS!!!!!!! I has killed the itch!!! The prednisone has kicked in a bit, I'm taking Benadryl, and I found Band-Aid cooling gel, which is just camphor and alcohol. I still look like the monster from the Blue Lagoon, and will be sending my boss a pic of me so she can decide if she wants me to show my face at work tomorrow,...
  19. Try overboiling the Trader Joe's twirly pasta a bit, and then finish cooking it in the sauce you'll be serving it with. It comes out with a consistency quite like egg noodles. Makes them work great for soup.
  20. If you're making a pasta salad, I recommned that you do a test run. I find that my pasta requires a great deal more dressing that the gluten kind did, the rice just soaks it right up.
  21. This is very good advice. I work for a hotel chain, and most managers don't listen to anything that doesn't come in on a survey or letter to corporate. Also keep in mind, fruit, cheese, veggies that weren't prepped with you in mind probably aren't safe. In a big banquet kitchen, all the food is prepped simultaneously, and the risks of cross-contamination...
  22. NOPE! I've been good, if it itches too much to handle I just do something that makes it burn instead. I only itched it on the spot on my face before I realized what it was, and that's definitely the worst patch. You know, my job requires me to work with guests in a small enclosed space. I look like the Frankenstein monster. I didn't realize I was so vain...
  23. About the whole Scott tissue thing- yeah, no. Charmin ultra-Strong will be the City's official TP. No sinlge-ply TP will be available for sale in our stores. (Sorry, Scott.)
  24. I actually am really good about avoiding it, because my reaction is so unpleasant, but we were pulling up roots I didn't know were ivy roots, and then I got whipped in the face by a blue berry branch, so I was rubbing it, and blah blah blah....... you'd think I'd learn.
