HAHAHAHA!!! I have friends who bribe me to cook. My uncle does house repairs in exchange for food. I don't think gluten-free cooking has to suck, not by a long shot. -

I get up at four-thirty AM Mon-Fri for work. I think that automatically disqualifies me. I do frequently nap when I get home though.... -
These aren't so gooey-soft, they're more like springy cake, but they sure TASTE like cinnamon buns. I didn't put icing all over them.

Here's one idea I got addicted to. I used: 1/4 cup Bob's pancake mix 1 egg 2 tsp-ish of flax seed 2 tbsp pumpkin puree 1 1/2 tbsp maple syrup You have to micro it longer than the original because it's got the pumpkin and flax, but oh man is that tasty. Also tasty with lemon juice and maple syrup and flax, instead of pumpkin. -
So I took a recipe for gluten-free danish and played with it, and came up with comething pretty darned close to cinnamon buns, in flavor and texture, if not apperance. Here's the recipe: 2 Tbsp shortening 1/3 cup honey 1 egg 1/2 tsp cider vinegar 1/2 cup plain yogurt or sour cream 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp xanthan...

Nice summary. Oh Joodles! I should have answered before, I was whining about not having a dog because I'm allergic to everything with fur. Someday I'll be able to afford one of those hair dogs that don't have fur, but I refuse to get a hairless cat. Those aren't cats, they're oversized rodents. I wish I could take your cat, I love cats. I'm off... -

Oh, just thought I should mention, my boyfriend gave me his cold so I'm home from work today and not able to go and get stuff done while we have decent weather. So I'm sitting around drinking lots of tea and reading books and watching tv and playing with my sillies! The BF's also home from work, so I has company, it's kinda nice, he's blowing things up in... -

NOW I have to ask. How do bresticles go from size H ( ) to so much smaller? And isn't you happy that they're not so hugemongous now? I'm a size C and I think they're annoying.... -

I think I'll post what I did in the recipes section today, so you can check it out and see if it would translate well. I made it with only honey, so I would sub with agave nectar instead of splenda anyway. And the batter wasn't really thick enough to make buns with, so it was more like cinnamon bun bread/cake. I made it plain with just a thin honey syrup... -

Ok, I'm only caught up to page 2272. I know, I'm a horribly recalcitrant sillie. In other news, I created cinnamon buns (almost!) and I'm going to bed. Am I the only one who really never has anything interesting to talk about? I'm sure something interesting has happened in the past few weeks, parently I'm just too tired to think of anything. I want... -
ARCHIVED Ice Cream Sandwiches...?
JNBunnie1 replied to G-freegal12's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Future reference- Stick a cooler in the car! You can freeze big containers of water for giant ice cubes that keep ice cream nice and cold, can you tell I've had this problem before? If you don't have a cooler, Bring the big ice cubes inside a blanket inside a paper bag, and then wrap it up with the ice cream. works almost as good. -

Did you ever try a different brand or those puffy Lay's Natural's Cheeto's? Of course, if Cheeto's made me vomit, I'd have stopped experimenting long ago, so maybe that's a silly question. I wonder what it is that has that effect on you. -

Wow. Being a student of the English language, I thought I was being very careful with my grammar. I honestly thought advice about food was what you were after. Perhaps you could share with me what part of my post was argumentative or took an admonishing tone, so I can avoid doing so in the future. -
ARCHIVED What Do You Do When Your Starving?

Portable food- 'organic food bar'. Seriously, best food bar I ever ate, especially the chocoalte flavor. Way tastier than Lara bars, and I love those, so that's saying something. They also have like 14 grams of protein per bar, so it's REAL food, and are kinda squishy so so what if they get more squished in your pocket. -

It sounds to me like you didn't read my whole post. I wasn't trying to bring you down, like you said, it was a suggestion. There are people on the board who, while healing, can eat nothing but fruits, vegetables, meats and nuts. They can't even have any grains, sometimes for the rest of their lives. I'll copy/paste the part of my post that didn't seem to... -

I don't really have anything to add, other than that we got a big chest freezer so I could keep my bottomless pit of a boyfriend fed. We have it down in our laundry room, it doesn't really have to go in the kitchen. -
ARCHIVED Too Many Potatoes!
JNBunnie1 replied to Juliebove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
One of my favorite things to do with potatos is to make what I call el cheapo burger soup. Brown ground beef with onion and spices, add water or broth, diced potatoes, and simmer until potatoes are tender. I've done this with and without dairy, you could top it with that fake cheese you were talking about a while ago. I like it because it's not on the stove... -
ARCHIVED First Glutening Since Diagnosis - Worse Than I Expected!
JNBunnie1 replied to Medz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You actually have to be eating gluten for a lot longer than a few weeks for a biopsy to be worth anything. It seems pretty clear, what with the blood test and your recent reaction. Exactly what will it serve to have this biopsy done? Can't your doctor diagnose you based on the blood test? Also, my reactions to gluten changed after being gluten free for... -

Crimsontopper, this IS help. Lisa is right-Cheetos and Koolaid aren't good for anyone ever, especially sick people. A lot of times, people who are healing from gluten damage just can't handle that kind of sugar/junk food overload. As to whether you got glutened by these foods- It's more likely that your hands weren't clean when you ate the cheetos, or...
