Meanwhile, if I do have this problem with the oxylates, I don't look forward to exchanging my brown rice for white. However I will do it if necessary. This trouble I have with hives and psoriasis as well as difficulty falling asleep at night needs to go!! It really messes with the quality of my life. Taking sleeping pills is not a cure since they leave me...

I agree with you Annette, with all the neuro issues you have had the B complex is probably essential. I am hoping that by taking the B complex you can walk more comfortably soon! I love to walk each day too, and can understand how awful it is not to be able to. Just yesterday I could hardly walk, my diaphragm and belly was so painful. I hobbled about...

Hi Annette, Just remember to go at going off the high oxylates slowly at first. A gradual process is what is recommended to avoid excess problems from "dumping" of oxylates which could otherwise freak out your already fragile system. This is also why they suggest you take calcium citrate 20 minutes before your meals, and mag. citrate afterwards, to...

Thanks for the info. gluten-free! Its nice to have such simple run downs on oxylates in various foods. Apparently however there is a lot more to this than on first perusal. Oxylates can be considered an anti nutrient, mitochondrial toxin and disruptor of cell chemistry this site I just looked at suggests. The thing is is that some folks just don't have...

Hmm. This could be salicylate sensitivity, if you really are not being trace glutened. I suggest you check out the salicylate sensitivity forum and see if it rings any bells. I have similar reactions, especially if I have cut fresh shrubbery. Or eat the wrong foods --which includes a whole list of them counting in the gluten-free items too. However...

Wow this is interesting article DC. I know for myself I often need to take some baking soda so I can get to sleep.--and yes it really does agree with me. I also have a history of having trouble having enough electrolytes. Using baking soda as a remedy is often common for those who have salicylate sensitivity--which I also have. I wonder now if I should...

That is an interesting concept "DC" (I'll call you that since the computer makes the first two letters spell gluten free) about the magnesium citrate. R eason I say that is that for those who have salicylate intolerance, taking mag. citrate often is de riguer. Plus taking epsom salt baths which are high in magnesium. Oxylate sensitivity is different but in...

Glad to be of help. I figure we are all in this together. I wish all this wasn't so hard to figure out. Its like there is the information out there but its all in distinct parts. It needs to be put together into whole systems to see how it all interrelates for it really to be useful or understandable by us lay people. We need to know because this is... -

Hi Rice guy, I do eat peeled ripe pears and peeled golden delicious apples regularly to help out my liver etc. Which is fantastic really since for a long time I could not handle eating any fruit at all. So this new condition is a blessing. I also drink a bit of nettle tea which is also detoxing for the liver and is actually an antidote for salicylate... -
That is fantastic Annette! I am so glad something seems to actually fit the missing piece of the puzzle for you at last. Am crossing my fingers for you. I still think you should find a good doctor no matter what however. But one that is open to this kind of new information, yes?? Might be wise to query him or her first. Meanwhile following this low...

Hooray for you!! That is great news that part of the expense can be reimbursed. And that you are seeking a second hopefully more helpful opinion. Best of luck Annette. Bea PS Meanwhile I made and appointment to see a naturopath/homeopath for next Wednesday. I feel like I am over the hump, but am still struggling. I was CC'd 3 times last week. Aach...

Not to make you feel whatever--please note that the article you referred us to is about chondroitin and glucosamine sulfate. Not L-glutamine... Nevertheless, whereas many thought there were no problems with it whatever, apparently that just ain't true. Too much of even a good thing, even if it just means taking it for too long, is still too much. For... -
What you suggest about the vitamin D "gluten-free in DC" is interesting. I actually was tested some years ago as having too much cod liver oil. Not too much vitamin D. The oils had built up and had become toxic. I think it was the EPA, but it might have been the DHA. Either way, too much is too much if that is going on. The thing is it sounds like...

ARCHIVED My Son Wants To Go To A Movie This Weekend
YoloGx replied to lichjen's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I suggest you call first to see if what they put in it is OK or not or if there is likely CC. If its likely not OK for him, I suggest you bring your own bag of home made popcorn stuffed in a large purse or a regular kid's back pack. Getting sick just to fit in is not a fun way to spend the weekend. It will be dark. No one will see. Bea -

I suggest you look at this old thread on the good and the bad concerning L-glutamine. It was a heads up for me too. Especially about it not being good for those with hypoglycemia. The main thing is (assuming they have their facts right) that it seems to be good for short term use, no more than two months at a time (at most--like I recalled somehow), or it... -

Hi Marilyn, You bring up a good point. Most anything you take has to be taken with consideration and observation. Everyone is a little different so that needs to be respected. I have been helped by L-Glutamine, as have many here. Some swear by it. A good friend of mine was recommended by his naturopath to use it regularly to help heal the lining of... -

You are quite wrong. This is only a homeopathic dose, and an extra dilute one at that. All that is left is the energy of the plant which we know is there by how it affects certain people, as well as its history of dilutions and percussive shaking in water or some other medium. There is otherwise nothing else to detect. One is not affected by it unless one... -

I'll second that on ginger tea! Also L-glutamine can help heal and soothe a ravaged gut. -

Good luck to you Katie! I am betting you will soon start feeling better and better. Meanwhile you might want to invest in some enterically coated probiotics to help you feel better sooner. L-glultamine also helps out a lot of people by soothing and healing the lining of the gut. -

Hi Lisa, Thank you for your interest and concern. Yes I am a long term artist. Have been a ceramic sculptor and am now relearning how to paint--which is finally starting to sing to me, so to speak. And yes it is very healing for me to create in a variety of mediums. I had quit using pastels as well as painting years ago due to problems with... -
ARCHIVED Cinnamon To Treat Stomach Problems?
YoloGx replied to desperateforhealth's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Irish Heart is right. Lactose (i.e. milk sugar) can be very hard to digest. Many people with celiac etc. have to go off milk products, especially at first while their villi are healing. Though some can handle goats milk more than cows milk. The yogurt or kefir form are even better. Other common problems are trouble with digesting fats. Thus pancreatin enzyme... -

Thanks Lisa. I am thinking of seeing a Naturopathic doctor to get testing done in case some of my hormones are low or something else is off and thus exacerbating the situation. Meanwhile I don't feel that huge a loss with not seeing my mother that much although its not totally easy either. Going back on gluten was her choice. I had taken her off of... -

I agree. You are right. I should not have allowed them to talk me into eating there despite all. I had my food with me after all. I also simply cannot do personal care for my mother as long as they keep feeding her gluten. Period. Thankfully the belladonna homeopathic helped avert my migraine though I had to sleep 11 hours afterwards. The home made... -

I am having yet another beginning of a migraine after spending the day with my mother and brother and Mom's caretaker and my wonderful celiac boyfriend. We went to a museum. I brought my own food. However my brother did not bring the picnic lunch he was supposed to. So I was talked into eating at PF Chang's. So I ate part of my food and part of PF Chang...
