  1. Corinne: I'm in the same boat as you. Wish you were my neighbor, then I'd have someone to eat with!

    ARCHIVED Doctor Won't Test Son

Open Original Shared Link First and second degree relatives of Celiac patients are at increased risk of the disease and should be screened. Perhaps send him what Stanford Medical Center recommends.

    ARCHIVED University Celiac Clinics

Can anyone share an experience with a dedicated Celiac Clinic ie Stanford, Mayo, Columbia?
  4. I can't eat any of those either. I just read about the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and it seems to fit me. I was also thinking it was a lectin issue, but when I eliminated those, I still had mild GI symptoms. After reading about the SCD, I can eliminate all but the simple sugar foods. So what I eat is home prepared meat, cooked vegetables, cooked or...
  5. I don't tolerate any complex carbs either. I just read about the SCD diet (Open Original Shared Link) and it provided an explanation. I don't usually get that "filled" up feeling because I don't eat carbs, but I do try to eat protein and fruit/veg together and I'm not hungry. I do miss that comfort of filling full, but at least I'm not bloated later...
  6. After reading the SCD website, I realize that when I follow a similar diet I have pretty good results. The website helped clarify and make sense of why I can tolerate simple monosaccharide sugars such as fruit, but would get thrown off by something like natural root beer that has disaccharides. For those who haven't tried it yet, it's doable. I've ridden...

    ARCHIVED Corn Syrup

I think I have a problem w/ corn. I'm back to a very restricted diet and haven't done a corn challenge lately. I was just wondering if people who don't tolerate whole corn are able to tolerate corn syrup since it is broken down into simple sugars (I think)?

    ARCHIVED Stanford Celiac Clinic

Holdthegluten, I'm just trying to get in and hope that someone is familiar enough with this disease and its healing patterns to make sure I'm on the right track and that nothing has been missed. I'm not eating anything but meat, green vegetables, and fruit plus all the usual supplements and I'm still low on energy.

    ARCHIVED Stanford Celiac Clinic

Anyone been seen there? My GI is referring me, but I don't know if I'll be accepted based on elevated antibodies alone.
  10. I know it's bad for you in general, but is Corn Syrup any easier to digest then whole corn? Dreyer's Fruit Bars have corn syrup in them and I need a treat sometimes.
  11. This might be a really dumb question, but can you take Probiotics if you are Dairy Intolerant?
  12. I tried doing a search on the scd diet, but didn't get any results. Any suggestions? Thanks. Holdthegluten: I felt great at first, but now also having tiredness and dizziness. I'm at the 4 month mark also.
  13. I don't know who or even what kind of physician to go to. I've been strict gluten free for 4 months, dairy free and nightshade free for 2 months and now I'm down to home prepared meat, green vegetables, and fruit. I'm still having GI symptoms if I add anything else and I'm continuing to drop weight. My Internist is not helpful and my Gastroenterologist...
  14. Thanks for all the info. I will check out that lab for a local MD. I did just make an appt w/ a local holistic MD and will call another who has open call in the mornings. But I also want to see if they're on that labs list.
  15. Here's the link to the IgG testing. I may have it wrong and it may be a blood test. Open Original Shared Link I seem to have problems with eggs, corn, rice, peanuts, soy, and night shades. From what I read on another thread, they all have lectin? I thought the nightshades was the food group that had lectin. Do almonds have lectin?
  16. Hi all I'm only asymptomatic when my diet is limited to home prepared meat, green vegetables, and fruit. I really want to be able to add something else that's convenient to grab and go, but haven't been able to figure out what I can handle. I would rather do a saliva test ie the Food Panel IGA thru Immunoscienceslab, but I don't know if that will tell...
  17. I just had an endoscopy as an outpatient in the GI lab a couple of weeks ago. I was very anxious and remember abdominal pain and fighting the procedure. I don't recall the following colonscopy at all. I rec'd Versed and Fentanyl. My sister, who is a nurse anesthetist, performs anethesia for endoscopys in the OR and told me she usually gives propophyll...
  18. Hey there, I'm a newbie as well. I have similiar issues with the milk and it's just not a part of my life anymore with the rare exception of an occasional inclusion of butter. I've tried Almond Milk when I felt desperate. Not crazy about it. I'm not crazy about the gluten free cereals and have finally quit coffee, so I don't have a big need for a dairy...
  19. The last paragraph was about an unsupportive husband. And my Internist that thought I was too healthy to have Celiac Disease when I suggested it 3 years ago. And all the antidepressant Rx's and messed up vacations. I have an appt for my son that has the most symptoms and plan to test my other kids as well. I have a daughter that's had occasional unexplained...
  20. Just saw my gastroenterologist and he said based on my initial lab results that I did indeed have Celiac Disease, but by the time he saw me, the gluten free diet that I had already started was effective and that I currently don't have intestinal damage and my antibodies are dropping. He said that I have been doing more for myself (by following the diet...
  21. Hi, I'm new here. I have a question re a negative biopsy result. Background: 11 yrs of GI sx, iron defienct anemia, anxiety/depression/irritability, joint pain, low energy, restless legs, insomnia, super dry skin. I quit most gluten 6 mos ago, occasional cheating, but GI symptoms nearly gone, improved energy, positive weight loss. A few weeks...
