  1. Yoekie, Seems like there could be a number of causes of your symptoms. SCD could be helpful, it might be worth a try. I also wonder about an infection of some type or heavy metal toxicity. What about deficiencies due to malabsorption?
  2. Yoekie, welcome. My thought was also what Mia said, the concern is whether you can digest the carbs in the small intestine.
  3. Bob's is not as fine as some of the other flours, as I understand. I had a bag of Bob's given to me, but didn't care for it. Mind you, I had been grinding all of my own prior to that. The Digestive Wellness, which many people like, is quite fine. It is also the light color you describe.
  4. Yes it has. I'm not that easy to get rid of, lol. I'm having quite a bit more bloating these days. I'm going to go ahead and start eating a bit more raw, as the doctor said I should be able to. Hoping that this will even out when I finish the protozoan treatment, just a few more days now. After that I am going to do a few days of extra probiotics and...
  5. Those reacting to cow's milk might do fine on goat milk yogurt. Many do at least, including me. At least it is worth a try. I drip the yogurt for "cream cheese" for baking. I just got results from ELISA IGG testing for a food panel. The results went along with my experience. I can't handle the cow's milk products that were tested except for cheddar...
  6. I notice that the flour that we can buy is off white in color. Seems to be made of the blanched almonds that are all white/off white. I wonder if it is this part of the processing that is bothering you? I buy the whole almonds that are brown on the outside, which I grind and use for my baking. I prefer the taste, I find.
  7. I think this is a possibility. I can't recall where, but I think I also remember reading someone didn't tolerate the Bob's almond flour. What I'd do is try to get some raw almonds. Maybe even order from Just Almonds, where they don't spray them or anything, they just use steam to pasteurize them. So you can be sure there are not any additives. Maybe...
  8. IMO the SCD would be worth a try. The lactose problem would fit. The hard to digest foods, grains and potatoes, would also fit. The fact that you are still having a lot of symptoms in spite of gluten-free for some time fits. Sparkling drinks--do they contain sugar? Does 100% fruit juice (confirmed no sugar added) cause problems? Carrots are high...
  9. Welcome jmd. This strikes me as a *possible* allergy. Can you eat raw whole almonds without problems?
  10. Welcome, Matchew. The stool changes ARE common. I had a lot of this, especially the first week. Lots of weird stuff, and also a bunch of visible parasites, TMI to describe. SCD has a great cleansing effect when you have stuff that has been feeding on undigested carbs. IMO, this is confirmation that you will benefit from SCD. The intestinal damage...
  11. Wonderful news, Tommy. Sure hope no further complications arise in your treatment and you stay well for good!
  12. Ali, I seem to have a clearly allergic response to coconut products rather than what I associate with die-off. Also I can't get the virgin coconut oil out here. Perhaps after a longer period of SCD and further healing, this allergy response will subside.
  13. SCD diet resulted in a rapid release of visible parasites for me. So I see it as clearly related and very much on topic. It is also one of the premises of the diet, according to Elaine. Undigested carbohydrates feed parasites and mess up the gut ecology.
  14. A number of years ago I was doing research for my master's thesis on the connection between chronic illness and psychological factors. There was actually a lot of studies about this. The studies on IBS in this area were the most numerous. For example, patients with IBS have a much higher incidence of child sexual abuse in their history, than in the normal...
  15. I think it is possible for some people that candida is the main problem. However, I think there are so many factors contributing to health in the gut that usually it is more than one simple cause. I'm experiencing BM changes on my current treatment of protozoan infection; too early to tell if it is going to be another jump forward in healing or just a...
  16. I was 15 months gluten-free before switching to SCD (via my doctor's recommendation). I haven't rechecked antibody levels but I did recheck my fat malabsorption. I haven't had an endoscopy since going on SCD. You can get info on the test from the www.metametrix.com website. It does require your doctor's order. You might just call the lab, perhaps...
  17. Janie, For me it was one of those things where I told myself, "you just have to." I had clear testing results (twice) that showed I was not digesting carbs. Then during the first week I saw a lot of shifts with BMs, and then saw parasites being expelled. I was very impressed that diet could do that. When I am tempted, I remind myself of this and...
  18. Martha, I think you have to make the call yourself--listen to your own body. I think though that you should give it a full month at least, and also recognize that some folk take months to really see the benefits. Secondly, if it were me, I'd try to get the Metametrix microbial ecology test. It will show you what the main gut flora look like, as well...
  19. Yes, just a comment though. Be cautious about it. I guess it can be fairly powerful although it sounds innocuous. I'm sticking pretty close to the 20 minutes, twice a week, until I know for sure how it will impact me. Thanks for the reminder about lemon juice. I need to get some lemons and add that in.
  20. Ali, what good news! I don't seem to tolerate coconut at all, so I can't try your remedy...
  21. Ali, can you say again what you did that was too rapid? I'm trying to encourage bile production, so have started drinking ginger water, using more tumeric in my carrot soup, and today I did a castor oil warm heat pack over my liver for 20 minutes. I'm thinking to try that twice a week.
  22. I think it will be a great idea to check the copper. Sometimes also I think the minerals can be out of whack due to toxic metals in the system. I guess you'll have to do a lot of research to figure out what to adjust. Yes, unfortunately classical psychotherapy practitioners often do think other approaches are not that helpful or only temporarily helpful...
  23. Mia, did they do copper levels? My doc explained zinc and copper should be about the same ratio. Can you do your own research on those findings? At least you could take some minerals and D3?? I think to dismiss your symptoms as psychosomatic just because they don't understand them is a travesty. On the other hand, since we are whole people, help in...
  24. Mia, so sorry you are going through this. Another story that underlines the importance of a wholistic approach, which is rare these days.
  25. Ali, so glad to hear things are improving. I'm trying to figure out what to do to help with increasing my bile, which tests as extremely low, last winter, summer and just recently. I've a couple of liver supports, which I use sparingly as I don't test well for them with energetic testing. I have no symptoms of pain to suggest stones, and liver enzymes...
