ARCHIVED Tone Soap
terri replied to moving on's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just spoke to a representative of Tone soap and asked her about the bar soap. She said it is gluten free. -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Cold Medicine And Such
terri replied to elfkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been horribly sick all morning after taking Robitussin CF max so I called them and asked if it was gluten free. She said they use no gluten ingredients but do not test for gluten and cannot verify what the manufacturers do. In other words, it is susceptible to cross contamination. So, another to cross off my list. -
ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving
terri replied to terri's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Use lots of fresh herbs and spices. If your mom says it is too bland, hand her the Cayenne pepper for her dish! LOL Not really! Keep experimenting. Cooking is fun and gluten free cooking is better because we use fresh ingredients and not processed packed chemicals. Best of luck to you! -
ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving

That is typical. You must just take care of yourself and keep educating yourself. Use this forum, it taught me so much! And read as much as you can on the subject. I can't promise your family will ever come around, but eventually, they will stop encouraging you to eat food which you know will not be safe. It is a long road but has a wonderful reward. A healthy... -

ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving
terri replied to terri's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No matter if you are very sensitive or show no symptoms at all it is NOT related to the damage done to your villi. The damage remains the same. There is no license to "relax" if your symptoms are mild. There is Celiac and Celiac. Not "mild" or "strong". Everyone's symptoms are different. My biopsy proven cousin has NO symtoms, me, I am super senisitive. But... -

ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving
terri replied to terri's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's done. I'm home. Only ate my food and must admit my deviled eggs and cheesecakes were awesome! On the way home my son asked, "Are we still having Thanksgiving on Sunday?" I said yes we were and he said " Good! Because their food just didn't taste good at all. There was something wrong with the turkey ( they had injected it themselves and marinated it... -
ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving

No eating turkey that has been cooked with stuffing is a definite no no. As for the potatoes, cross contamination is a possibility. It is better to be safe than sorry. I will make a turkey cutlet and a sweet potatoe to bring with me instead. -
ARCHIVED So Hard To Cope With Thanksgiving
terri replied to terri's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you everyone for your support. I will bring a cooler with my dinner and hope for the best. I agree that having it in your home is the best but not an option due to the surgery factor. I cooked up a mess of eggs last night to bring deviled eggs, and will make cranberry sauce and those little individual cheesecakes from Carol Fenester's cookbook and I... -

Once again we are going to relatives who have an incredible menu for Thanksgiving. Once again I am so depressed because I can't eat any of it. Last year they opened a bag of flour and made appetizers then handed me their kids full of gluten to hold. Even though I brought my own food I was sick for 3 days. Oh? Are those your rice crackers? Better not eat...

I was at a funeral yesterday and brought my own lunch from home and got violently ill. Again. I had a sandwich on Udi's bread. I started thinking back and realized that everytime I eat it, I get sick. Last week, a fried egg and Udi's toast. Sick. And sick after every sandwich. I kept blaming it on whatever I ate with the bread but now realize it is the bread...

We have a timeshare there and go as often as once a year. I love the place! We stay in a condo on the East End and cook most of our meals. I have eaten at the LIghthouse and Bacchus with no trouble. Just bring your dining card. I also ate at the Westin and had one of the best meals I've ever eaten. ( I would stay there if it were my honeymoon!)_Have fun!

Here is the reply I received today: Our Solution: Thank you for visiting our site. We hope the following information answers your question. Dear Terri, Thank you for your email. Our Jelly Belly jelly beans do not contain gluten. We do have a couple items that contain gluten (see attached document), they are run on dedicated lines and do not come...

ARCHIVED Green & Black Chocolate
terri replied to cressy75's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My husband brought me 2 Green and Black white chocolate bars yesterday and for some reason I looked at the ingredients and saw the nasty word wheat. Went on their website and all their gluten free info is gone and instead is listed may contain wheat. I love white chocolate and am allergic to dark and this was the only game in town so I called them. They... -
ARCHIVED Mission Corn Tortillas
terri replied to hermitgirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I called them yesterday as they no longer have gluten free on their packaging. She said all the packaging had to be changed as they make flour tortillas in the same room but on different lines. Flour dust takes 24 hours to settle, so I guess the risk of cross contamination is high enough that they can not call them gluten free. -
Was at the Harris Teeter off Sunrise Valley Drive yesterday and on a whim walked into the Z Pizza in that same shopping center and asked if they had gluten free pizza. They said they did and made it in a separate room. So I ordered a California Pizza and it was WONDERFUL!!! There were so many options of pizza to choose from, unlike Unos who won't give you...

ARCHIVED How Many Of You Have Lost Relatives To Colon Cancer?
terri replied to Ms. Skinny Chic's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My mother also had colon cancer and ended up with a colostomy bag. My father died from Pancreatic cancer. I believe he was the Celiac, as he was always sick after eating at died early at the age of 56. My mom's surgery worked and she lived to be 85 but passed from Altzheimers. I believe there is a link between untreated Celiac and cancer, for sure. -
ARCHIVED I Just Want To Know
terri posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Gluten free for 5 years, I guess when you haven't had any issues for months and months you get a little cocky and you go ahead and have the Trop 50 orange juice, even though it says natural ingredients, because, you're so sure it is fine. And you get sick, on Mothers Day, so sick that EVERY thing you eat leaves you. And you ache, and you burp and pass gas... -
ARCHIVED Tropicana
terri replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just had it this morning for the first time and had a terrible gluten reaction. I wonder what the natural flavors are that they list? I know it is not the Purevia as I use that all the time. -
ARCHIVED Scotch Whisky
terri replied to terri's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I noticed that Clan Thompson put the Glenlivet on their certified gluten free list. I am unaware if they know about the change in the processing of the caramel color. I guess Glenffidich single casks are like that Nadurra made by Glenlivet. $$$$$ I think I'll stick to Macellan and just have it once a week for a treat. I suppose there is no sense in contacting... -

Here is the answer from the chemist at Glenlivet: Any thoughts? From: Gordon Steele [mailto:Gordon.Steele@swri.co.uk] Sent: 13 November 2007 11:37 To: Ian Logan Subject: RE: Spirit caramel Ian, This is an area we have been very active in for the last few years with the Allergen labeling regs. Scotch has an exemption from labeling that... -

Here is the answer from the Glenlivet Terri, I have asked our Chief Chemist to get back to me with regard to your question and will get back to you as soon as I have feedback from him. In the mean time as a loyal drinker of The Glenlivet may I suggest you try Glenlivet Nadurra which I can assure is 100% natural colour. Kind Regard ...
