  1. Congratulations, Your girls are both beautiful. Who knows maybe this could be one of those things that leads somewhere and if not it can be one of those things you can all look back on in years to come. I think that is just wonderful and I think it's great that you are proud of her. Mother's hold the right to brag and Dad's hold the right to the remote...
  2. I am going to make Trix cereal bars with gobs of marshmellow. If they don't work then the Dora the explorer cereal will do and I will add one cup of peanut butter, a wack load of marshmellows and chocolate drizzle after they are done. Who said this disease sucks, I am having a blast making treats and for once in my life I don't feel guilty making them...
  3. Check Vodka - there are some made from Potatoes. I know this because my sister's boyfriend bought some just in case I wanted to have a drink if I am ever at his house. He is very cool, but I would check vodka's according to my sister's boyfriend everything else but wine has gluten in it. I just avoid it completely to save me the hastle. I can understand...
  4. You just made my day I have a camping size bag out in the kitchen but didn't want to open them until I was absolutely sure. Have been gluten free for 2 weeks now and the only symptoms I still have are the headaches - allergy related and the bloated belly. Not really caring about the bloated belly right now. WANT MARSHMELLOWS and peanut butter. Does...
  5. Hi all, With all the reading I have done and all the products that I have managed to find I still don't know if Marshmellows are gluten free or chocolate. I managed to find a bag of chocolate chips that said may contain traces of nuts, milk or soy so I imagine that if they listed those ingredients as a "MAY CONTAIN" then they would have listed wheat as...
  6. Are you certain it is even related to the soda. I used to get that feeling all the time followed by ringing ears and then I would black out. When I learned to control them I wouldn't black out anymore. According to my Doctor these are panic attack. Another in the long list of things wrong with me. According to the book I am reading about Celiac Disease...
  7. The Juwar Flour was $2.99 and the Name of the Company is #1 Ghanti Chaap that is the english writing on the bag I don't have the symbols to put the Indian writing on here, but it was manufactured by Indian Groceries and Spices
  8. I can understand Kay B.'s Question, I wouldn't have thought you could bake without some form of flour. It is GREAT to know that you can. I will make these today. Will have to scrub house top to bottom after because nephew has peanut allergy, but I have a peanut butter addiction. So thanks for giving me something to do today. I am sure I will enjoy them...
  9. I snack on fruit source bars and Enjoy life chocolate chip cookies. These choices are both great because my nephew who is 4 years old and a big snacker has a severe peanut and lactose allergy so between the 2 of us we cover all the allergies. Anyway he and I love them both. Trix cereal is also something I like to snack on. I eat it right out of the box...
  10. Got my diagnosis through a Biopsy so now my you have peaked my interest. How do you find out what Genes you carry? Is it a blood test?
  11. Hi All, I happened upon an Indian groceries store yesterday. I happen to live in a very multi-cultural community so this might just be a lucky thing for me. A lot of people including myself found that gluten-free food prices are crazy. At any rate I went inside and talked to the owner who had to communicate with me through his son. I did learn that...
  12. I found out that Trix Cereal, Little Einsteins and Dora the Explorer Cereals are gluten free as are Soy Joy bars. I am starting to do a little baking because I do find the cost of food a little outragious. I don't eat meat so I am still struggling a little with the protien. I am on my way out the door to the health food store. I am going to see if there...
  13. HI ALL, I KNOW THIS WILL PROBABLY SOUND SILLY, BUT I NEED TO KNOW IF IT IS RELATED TO CELIAC DISEASE OR JUST A CARB ISSUE. I DON'T EAT MEAT, BUT I DO TRY TO GET PROTIEN IN MY DIET IN OTHER WAYS. I GET THESE CRAZY CRAVINGS FOR PEAS, A WHOLE CAN JUST WARM THEM UP AND EAT THEM BY THEMSELVES. I HAVE DONE THIS FOR YEARS. JUST THIS PAST YEAR THE CRAVING...
  14. I would really like to thank everyone for their help. I have printed all recipes and plan on trying them all. I love anything banana, cranberry or coconut so I will have fun working with these recipes. It will keep me sane while trying to work on staying gluten free. It's been 10 days already and I find I am more tired and absent minded. I do however...
  15. Hope you can stay off the croutons. I am new and I have to say that reading this site is better than any of the Celiac books that I bought. This is a nice place to learn the diet the quick way that is for sure. I am affraid to eat out at all. I had a baked potato the other day at Wendy's and almost screamed at the lady when she went to cut it. She looked...
  16. Jessica, I had problems with a pain on my right side and inbetween my blades but I had tests done and found out I have a leaky stomach valve. My mother however as well as my sister have had their gall bladders removed. According to them the pain is just as you described. My mother says if put your fingers under your rib cage on the right hand side...
  17. Hi, My name is Kelly and I have a pretty good diet routine. I just eat all fresh fruits and veggies and complain how hungry I am. I have added some cereals but they are a snack as I am lactose intolerant as well as a vegetarian. That being said, I am looking for a muffin recipe or a snack loaf recipe. I've never been big on bread so that's not a problem...
  18. I tested positive for the blood test, but seeing as I was getting diagnosed with everything under the sun without proof I made the appointment and went to get the test done. It's not unpleasant but in my case it was not necessary. It proved exactly what the blood test did, I have Celiac Disease.
  19. Great I will go out and get some tonight. I am new to this so any info I can get is good info. I struggle buying groceries because when it says and flavouring I'm not sure I should eat it. I found out that Trix Cereal and Dora the Explorer Cereal are gluten free and they are my favorite snack now besides rice cakes and popcorn
  20. I heard that this is hereditary, should my sisters get their sons to have a blood test. They are all under the age of 8, but 2 of them already have a lactose intolerance and one of them has a severe peanut allergy.
  21. what is the name of the product? For some reason I cannot reach the link provided above. Thanks
  22. When you say she gets glutened by chocolate are you saying that it's not gluten free? If it isn't I am going to be mad. I read labels what am I suppose to look for? I didn't see wheat, rye, barley or oats so I eat it now and again, usually just plain dark chocolate
  23. Actually I swear I am learning more off of this board than in any book. I have been off the gluten for a week and I am a little frustrated because of food choices but the attitude I used to willing unload on people has dimmed. I though maybe it was because I was spending more time studing this disease, but other than hunger pains I have to admit I actually...
  24. Hi all, Apparently this is what is wrong with me, for years I have be sick and diagnosed with everything from IBS to Fybromyaligia. FINAL they have done a test that confirms this disease. NOW WHAT, Seriously I am a really healthy person, don't drink, smoke or do drugs, don't eat fast food or junk food. Now and again I will have a piece of chocolate...
