    ARCHIVED Colds

Ever since i was diagnosed with Celiac, everytime i get a cold it lasts for a month! Right now i have had this cold for 16 days with no signs of it letting go. Last winter i had a cold too that lasted a month and the winter i was diagnosed. Before when i had a cold it lasted the normal week, does anyone else have this problem with colds? It is so frustrating...
  2. H-pylori is the reason i found out that i had celiac disease. I was horribly sick from it, nauseated all the time, couldn't eat, tired, the list went on and on. My dr sent me to a gastro, no one mentioned celiac at all to me until after my endoscopy. I had a long list of digestive problems they discovered, you have to take all those meds for h-pylori to clear...
  3. I have never had any problems eating Lays plain chips. I read alot of things on these boards that people say bother them and the things they list never bother me i find it strange that it does some people and not others, i think it maybe other things than gluten that bothers them also, me...i have celiac, no other food allergies this maybe why. It's reasonable...
  4. I weighed myself and i lost 5lbs in a little over 2 weeks. YAY! ....im on my way back to feeling and looking better.
  5. I eat them and have had no problems with them and i am very sensitive to gluten, but i only eat the carmel corn ones, don't know about the other flavors.
  6. Thank you, the biggest challenge with celiac after you understand the disease and what you can and can't eat is the mental hurdles you have to get over, and that takes time, it took me almost 2 yrs of fighting with what my brain and my stomach were telling me. I used to crave sweets too if it said gluten free i bought it, i was excited to see GLUTEN FREE...
  7. When i was first diagnosed with celiac almost 2 yrs ago i went through all the mental anguish of thinking i couldn't eat anything good anymore. Then there was a period of time that i had anxiety over running out of food that i could eat at home, so i would buy tons of food and tell people in my family that was "my food" don't touch! Then i went through the...
  8. I tried a few brands of corn tortiallas and i found that the brand Azteca tastes the most like flour tortillas, they are in the refrigerated section of the grocery store, I buy mine at Meijers. I just wish they made a bigger corn tortilla like the flour ones, the corn ones are small.

    ARCHIVED Why?!?

I always use Kroger chili powder and I have never had any problems with it.
  10. I bought Bob's Red Mill Mighty Tasty gluten-free Hot Cereal..it's really good, tastes like cream of wheat, I add a little honey and sugar and milk. It's surprisingly good, and not expensive.
  11. I have been gluten free for 20 months now and i dream about gluten at least twice a month. In my dreams I am surrounded by gluten filled foods and I look down at my plate and it's filled with all kinds of goodies I can't eat. I realize it and don't eat any of it, i don't think it's related to gluten but more of our mental thing, we know we can't have gluten...
  12. I have been gluten free for a year and a half and i still have issues. I don't get as bloated, and no more bathroom issues, but i still need to nap during the day, my hair still falls out alot, still a bit dizzy and off balance, and a little nausea. I am very careful what i eat and this is still happening to me, but all in all i do feel better, it just takes...
  13. My first sympton of celiac was fatigue, I mentioned it to my doctor and he did a blood test and found i was very anemic, so he put me on 2 iron pills a day. Not sure how long i was suffering with celiac, i'm sure i was vitamin depleted in all aspects.
  14. I have never eaten a drop of gluten on purpose since the day i was diagnosed. The way i get through the depression and cravings is that I keep telling myself that gluten is POISON to me, I can't even imagine EVER deliberately putting gluten in my mouth ever again. I have had dreams about eating things I shouldn't but I keep telling myself it is poison..and...
  15. I hardly ever get glutened, but my first and last time I had bought some egg salad from the grocery store deli, reading all the ingrediants it appeared safe. 20 minutes after I ate it I had severe bloating, sharp pains in my stomach and horrible gas, it lasted about 3 hours.
  16. I love Jimmy Deans breakfast bowls, sausage and eggs, or the bacon one so good! Or you can eat Aunt Jemima breakfast, hashbrowns, eggs and sausage or bacon. They also make an omelette breakfast they are all very good and safe, as I eat them alot. These are nice to eat as they aren't a specialty gluten free product, so they aren't that expensive.
  17. OK maybe a better question would be, has anyone who tested with Enterolab ever had a NEGATIVE report back on gluten sensitivity, and the gene testing? ...negative result on ANYTHING?
  18. I am sorry, i forgot to add the more confusing part of this.....my 3 sisters were tested online, 2 came back as having 2 celiac genes and the other had 1 celiac gene, now my sister is thinking our father isn't HER father.....my sisters told me that in order to have 2 genes both parents have to be a carrier, so the whole family is in an uproar about this....
  19. Thank you all for your responses. I don't think of my dr as being uppity, I have complete confidence in my dr, he found my celiac disease right away, and is currently testing me and following up with me in every way. It seems to me that whoever would take the time to send out a stool sample has some problem going on. A person could just go to their dr and...
  20. I am new on here and this is my first post. I am confused about online testing for celiac. I was diagnosed in 2005 with celiac, my sisters did online testing, sent in a stool sample and they were told how many celiac genes they had and that they were gluten sensitive. I was just at my gastros for my yearly checkup and i mentioned the online stool sample testing...
